Sometimes It's still cheaper including postage buying from members here then it would be getting it from a local dealer my way!!

I use sometimes loosely, i haven't actually had a local dealer try to sell to me cheaper......

If you bring them here you will have to pay hefty customs fees if the value is over $1000. Bullion dealers do not have to pay customs fees so it's cheaper to buy nationally. As for security, I think that's a personal choice. Some people prefer vaults, others prefer to keep their bullion at home - in their gun safe. Personally, I like to have my bullion where I can reach it.

No GST or customs importing American Silver Eagles as a private individual into Australia.

Is this your own personal experience? I'm interpreting what I can make sense from http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5549.asp. I guess I could always call and ask them. It is clear that PMs are GST-exempt, however I couldn't find any information to suggest they are also duty-free.

Yes, I have privately imported a monster box prior to becoming a dealer. No customs duty, just the ~$55 customs entry fee that any parcel over $1000 is subject to.

very interesting post. i would like to say that gold stocks are not a place where investors typically look for high dividend yields. But it could soon change. A number of gold companies are becoming increasingly flush with cash, and are passing on some of those extra earnings to shareholders.

Hi goldpelican. I've just discovered this site and your post was one of the most comprehensive, easy to understand explanations of silver purchasing I have seen so far. I've been stacking for about a year now, and am very glad to hear there are locals in my community doing the same. No one I know personally has even considered it (or are even talking about the other world wide events taking place as we speak). I have stopped speaking to the majority of people I know about these concerns, as they think I am delusional.
