I think the book you are referring is 1st edition of Peter Anthony Panda coin buyer's Guide.

Here the second edition of his book about this coin you are referring:- (page 234) . He states the Panda LUNAR series started from 2005 and later. Second photo has indicated "these third party bimetallic coins use genuine gold Panda. the LUNAR YEAR SILVER RING IS ADDED BY A PRIVATE PARTY AFTER THE COINS LEAVE THE MINTS. It also indicates the GOLD IS BU SILVER IS PROOF.

I did came across some articles in internet for those set and mention about the same content as Peter Anthony book. However, I cannot remember and find the URL again. :p

Those set is by private mints so is that worth the value of significant premium ???? For me, I view it as same as privy America eagle, libertad and other bullion which add colour, gold plated and so on and sell double of it price. It is too expansive for me to buy it and claim it is limited edition.

The original point of discussion is this is commissioning by china mints or not. You post the photo of Peter Anthony book to claim it is from china mints. However, Peter Anthony states clearly in his second edition book it is not. In additional only the silver is proof and by 3rd party not proof coin for whole bimetallic.

On later part you add the pricing which I express my personal view. A treasure in someone eye might be a junk in others. Everyone had diff perspective. Personally, I will not use money to judge something's I like or dislike..... This is my collector hat. As pure seller for profit which might be diff.

I like them I bought them and they are rare and sought after . I added the pricing only as you seemed to insinuate that they where junk and not worth anything ...when I posted them I was working from the information in Peter,s first book as i d not have #2, to each his own as you say ... you make statements like they are not a limited addition ?? these where made for the bank of china as limited addition lunar sets, if you don't remember some colored panda,s where made in Europe for the china mint, I certainly respect your likes or dislikes . but someone who sells privately made medals that a private party goes to the shanghai mint plunks down some money makes 100 copies of something and then call s it "official " and sells a 2 ounce hunk of brass as something rare for several hundred dollars to folks. I find your statement odd??

If not wrong this is not commissioned by China BUT other European dealers. The silver layer are not from China mints.

Read the time sequence above ..........

Whatever medal makes by a china official mints is official. It can be high or low mintage. If the person do not like it in their eye it also a junk to him/her. You like it that can be a treasure and you do not it is junk.

If you like to divert the topic just continue or you can continue to show you knowledge for the others panda proof set which there is still a lot to read. I will leave this to you and not doing any homework for this proof panda set since I also busy with my full times job.......and I sense XXXX grape here.
