I don't want to be right on the above prediction, but several hours ago we dodged a bullet. Taiwan accidently fired a Hsiung Feng III supersonic ramjet "carrier killer" missile towards the China mainland. If it had hit a Chinese navy vessel or target on the mainland then there would have been serious trouble. VERY luckily it somehow locked on to a fishing boat, powered straight through the hull and apparently sank after exiting the other side (the missile's top speed is ~2000+ km/h and the warhead would be designed to penetrate armoured vessels and probably utilized a delayed fuze.) Unfortunately one crew member of the fishing vessel died. If not for the unfortunate fishing boat, there could have (at least) been market turmoil, and at worst, retaliation.
The Chinese may well have ranted and raved, but they will NOT invade Taiwan, and if they tried they would LOSE! OC
I doubt they would be adverse to taking a few retaliatory pot shots which could cause market mayhem. The risk is an accident followed by a breakdown in communication leading to escalation. Remember that the PLA and PLAN are far more indoctrinated in the "China Strong" rhetoric than are the CCP ruling elites.
I keep a small Stirling silver mustard spoon. I'll sell it to you tomorrow at the Wentworth Park Markets.
Depends where my car is parked. But seriously..... I carry a Ka-Bar Becker BK2 knife in my glove box, and a full sized axe and a little Stihl arborist's chainsaw behind the seat. The Becker replaces a hatchet.
