Doh! ninja edit, didn't read the bit about platinum

Shame NGC registry down, would have at least verified that the slab is legit.
Is a hard call though, to me the seller looks ok and the price is really good (so far). Always leaves doubts though when they not usually into selling pm's.

Just noticed that it's a 24 auction, maybe not many people have caught on that it is for sale? Might explain why price still low?

Maybe that could be the case.

Or everyone is having doubts like me.

Although I remember a time I was camping a 1999 1/4oz SD/LD Gold panda pair in OMP, ended up almost $2k even though up till the last 5 minutes it was still only spot (~$800).

Tempted to put in a 1000 GBP bid just for kicks...

Plus I think UK time is 10hours behind, so auction finish roughly lunch time saturday there? Probably not the best time locally to be ending a sale.
I would wait till the last 5 minutes before showing your hand, no point tipping someone else bidding on it that you about to snipe :)
I was tempted to put in a sneaky bid myself - but don't have the spare $ at the moment and wouldn't cut a fellow stackers grass :D

Hmm that means it'll finish Saturday morning US time, that is horrible lol.

Yeah you're right I'll wait till 12:25am to put in my bid.

I don't mind if I get undercut on this, since I don't really have the money either :p

If I do win this, it's going onto my credit card which I don't have to pay off till 1/31/2012 haha

Edit: hmm wtf I can check cert lookups for all my other coins so NGC DB isn't down, but this number doesn't work. Ahhh crap lol.

Shouldn't really be teaching this lol... but:

    1. Make a fake eBay account and outbid yourself.
    2. Just don't pay, seller can't leave negative feedback and non-payment strikes against buyers means sweet f- all as long as you do actually buy stuff time to time.

    I'm lazy so I'll take option 2.

Been buying over $3000 just the past week and paying same day, if eBay checks I can defend myself easily.

    :p

ah thanks. Glad to hear the strikes mean nothing.

Yikes on the buying total. You coulda' almost bought yourself a real panda by now! They have a lower est. population than the 2000 mirrored too lol

Wow, coin not found in NGC, that sucks man. The shisters are gettin good, fake slabs/NGC numbers?! I've definitely seen this around the 4k + mark on ebay, it's a very popular coin.

Will be up so will keep an eye on it (iiiiiiim sure you will be too Fish).

The good news is that if you suspect the coin to be fake with good reason you don't have to pay. The coin is coming up invalid number at NGC would in this case be more than a good enough reason without a very good explanation by the seller as to why it isn't. I assume that every certified coin by NGC is available in the database?

Looks photoshopped, the last digit (6) looks off. Might not be a fake slab, just doctored numbers.

    Yes sir!

Yeah that's true, but I got outbid anyway so all good ;)

I only put in a tiny 600 GBP bid for kicks.

good spotting on the 6, very good spotting!!

I was about to say the coin looks legit but not now.

Have sent a polite enquiry to the seller, not expecting a response... sellers like this are idiots.

Yeah I knew itd be out there somewhere, trust pisces to have it... thought that background looked familiar.

Look at the nice price too :)

Pretty bold faced, deceiving auction, it amazes me how this can happen.

The poor guy leading the bidding is in for a shock.

Yep the leading guy is going to have uno big problemo.

Hopefully no one bids over $3000 or damn that scammer will get rich.

It's not in the completed listings, I tried there first. The listing is almost a month old so eBay didn't show it.

Yep, it's a dud serial number. If you read the UPC on the slab, it's actually the number of the other auction you posted...
