There are 4 mythical creatures in chinese culture. The dragon is one of them, the dragon has a hooves of a horse, skin of a snake, claws of a tiger and other features of other animals.

In regards to the current lunar 2 series, I feel the animals are way to western / cartoonish. You will see lunar I coins do much better in the long term.

Take the Series II Ox, its not an Ox, its a cow. Chinese cows don't look like that. The series I coins look more like the asian Ox's as they use them to farm.

It will be interesting what they put on the Series 2 dragon. If its anything like the western mythical dragon that breathes fire. I'm not sure how well it will be accepted by the asian people. I would still buy them, simply because its a series and a quality release from Perth Mint.

In short, Series I is more oriental. Its a chinese lunar zodiac, the series 1 just has that feel to it IMO.

This critter's fossil was found in china:

If some farmer 3000 years ago found a set of bones to one of these guys, the legend of the dragon may have started from there, or just contributed to it.

The 1oz coins are sealed in boxes of 100, these are the "inner boxes".
The "outer" carton contains 3 of these "inner" boxes inside.
    Totaling 300 coins.

I don't think they are called monster boxes.
Mainly the US Silver Eagle boxes of 500 coins are called the Monster Boxes.
