You aussies like US bullion eh ? While lots of us in the USA prefer the Australian stuff! I would gladly trade my American Eagles for some Kooks, Kangaroos, Lunars, Koalas, etc
We like competitively priced bullion mate. Australia has no independent mints that produce bullion close to spot. You can source bullion rounds there for a buck or two over spot. We have no such option here. Even if we import from OS, we get creamed on import costs and shipping. The Australian Perth Mint product is superb quality, without a doubt, but the lack of competition means that we have very little in the way of low budget options. I'd love to see an independent or two come and compete with the majors to satisfy the lower end market. Something like APMEX or Quality Silver Bullion or Scottsdale here in Australia would fill a niche nicely I think, but as yet, there's nothing on offer. I know a few of the larger dealers here are offering trade marked bars, but they are not really priced competitively against Perth Mint product as yet. So here in Australia, we get premium product at a premium price and that's about it.
I see, what is stopping a competitor from stepping in ? Government restrictions on free market capitalism? I thought that was the problem here!
I live in the US and go to local shows regularly. Show dealers typically sell ASEs for spot + $3. If you have a good buying relationship with a dealer, you may be able to get them for spot + $2. eBay is obviously a different story.
i would be more than happy to split a monster box if you guys could find enough people to buy all 500oz, i would do the box at normal price and just charge for shipping. so for example todays price for a box would be $20,500 so i would do it for $41 per coin + shipping. not offering this as a deal now, but if there is enough interest, let me know.
