yep 4 years... not bad for what started as a 3 week holiday :p:. everywhere is an adventure for a year or so then the realities start to set in . You need cash & lots of it if your thinking of living any decent sort of lifestyle even in asian countries that seem cheap .
If you like a few of lifes little luxuries it wont be much cheaper than living here . good quality imported foods & beverages can add to your expenses bill considerably If you want to live like the locals its cheap as chips but honestly who wants to do that . did you work all your life to live like a pauper ? or do you want to enjoy it ? boat trips around islands, taxis, motorbike & car hire, plane tickets, dinners, drinks.resort stays & hotels where ever your visiting etc etc etc theres a lot of fkn etc's i can tell you. Think about it if you are in a foreign country you dont sit around watching tv all day .
A bit of character adjustment & patience is a must when living in a foreign culture or you will strangle someone .& wind up on "locked up abroad " lol
Good luck to anyone who has the gonads to do it . If it turns to shit you can always come home ..

Sounds very similar to Panama reno. Yep, you can read International Living and live on $400 a week, like they claim. I hope you like living in a concrete box that doesn't seal up and catching a diablo rojo for an hour to the food markets.

You can live cheap in these places, but if you're going to buy the same brand of foods that you bought in your home country your cost of living will be the same if not higher in the end. Live like the locals and it can be cheap but then you have to ask yourself why you are living there ("the lifestyle").

That said, it can be done. Just have to be clever, pick your location and make sure you do your sums to come out after tax and cost of living.
