As stated in com law... Commercial Grade 999 & 9999 https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2015L00651/Explanatory Statement/Text
No mention of the 2015 Kangaroo on Perth Mint's mintage figures on their website...only the 2016 listed... http://www.perthmint.com.au/documents/2016 Perth Mint Bullion Other Sales 311215 final.pdf
VERY nice find !!! 2015 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality - Silver Investor Coin The design on the 2015 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality (1oz) silver bullion coin, consists of a pattern of shapes representing stylised sunrays surrounding a representation of a kangaroo. The coin includes the micro letter 'A" and the following inscriptions 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO' and '2015 1oz 999 SILVER'. 2016 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality - Silver Investor Coin The design on the 2016 Australian Kangaroo - Commercial Quality (1oz) silver bullion coin, consists of a pattern of shapes representing stylised sunrays surrounding a representation of a kangaroo. The coin includes the micro letter 'A" and the following inscriptions 'AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO' and '2016 1oz 9999 SILVER'.
Of course not I believe the whole allocation have been exported out. Same as all those colour coins. Overseas specials orders.
That's basically the same as if the U.S. Mint had really made Silver American Eagles starting in 1985 instead of 1986 , but shipped the entire mintage over to Australia...and didn't document what had been done. What do you think 1985 Eagles , if discovered that they in fact were minted...would be worth ? It's not like this is a special made to order coin for a specialty market , the Perth Mint likened to issuing these 2016 Kangaroos in the same way they issue Mint State bulk American Eagles ... http://www.perthmint.com.au/media-release-2016-australian-bullion-coin-progr.aspx "We are confident that the Silver Kangaroo will help us double our market share in the United States, Europe and globally, as it is issued with an unlimited mintage and is only available for purchase in large quantities," he added. " Let's hope they don't ever dig up any 1989 Kookaburra's...
Since when does Perth strike all the coins in the currency determination? If they did we would have 2oz silver kookaburras for the years, 2010, 2011 etc. Just because coins are listed in the determination doesn't mean they have been, or will be, struck.
2015 Australian Kangaroo Silver Bullion Coin Mystery Solved: http://www.newcoinreleases.com/2015-australian-kangaroo-silver-bullion-coin-mystery-solved/
I was right on this one No one knows about this.... Thanks SilverBullion. Good job!!! I think you have dug too deep!!! Even the Perth Mint doesn't know about this. As the whole allocation been bought by one buyer.
Another nice find Since the stealth 2015 release IS actually part of the Perth Mint's Bullion Coin Program( It's FIRST release ) , and the 2016 is going strong at over a million a month mintage...this minuscule 300K 2015 is going to be a very nice key date coin. " Neil Vance, Perth Mint Group Manager of Minted Products, responded as follow to my questions : When exactly was this 2015 dated Kangaroo released by The Perth Mint? The 2015-dated issue was The Perth Mint's first run of Australian Silver Kangaroo coins. At the time of initial production, The Perth Mint was making all of its silver coins in 999 silver. Subsequently, to satisfy market demand for 9999 silver, we altered our strategy to issue the more globally sought-after purity. There is also a slight finish between the 2015 and 2016-dated releases. The 2015-dated coins were offered to one of our resellers in the United States last year, however, they have only appeared in the market now. The 2015-dated Silver Kangaroo has been struck to a limited mintage of 300,000, so both investors and collectors may seek to acquire this rare release. " NICE
And here I am, holding a couple of hundred of the 2016 like a sucker. Would love to have accidentally been sent the 2015 instead.
The 2016's are basically like silver rounds to me now, minting over a million of them a month...NOT the first year minted Kangaroo in the bullion coin program ...etc. Like you, I am sitting on a good number of the 2016's as well....sucks.
Yeah, but like their other 4 nines cousin the Maple Leaf...it will be my luck that when I fall back on them I will be holding a glass of milk at the time.
Its no more collecable than the FWS. 300k is not a low mintage the 2015 is just a next coin to the croc and fws the 2016, s are a 4 nines investment grade coin so they are just silver investment coins. No more collectable than the last RCM birds of prey if you didnt have one to complete the set! Who wants a crap quality set of silver coins just because one was lowish mintage and harder to get? Collectors will just move on with better quality.
