Come 2019, God only knows what they will up the Lunar Series to from 300k. My thinking would be stack in the Series 2 up until 2018 and then look to sell out of the lot post the 2019 price apocalypse that will be Series 3 mintages.
Sorry for the newbie question, but what's the deal with the 1992 Kooks? I just got won from Gainesville cuz it had a fairly low premium. Is it fake?
Back in 92' they didn't reach their mintage limit, so now they minted the rest. I wonder what other coins they'll do this for?
plenty of other kooks left, but i suggest they were just testing the market to see how they went, see they have upped the mintage of 2013 kooks so maybe the experiment didn't go so well? i would not buy them if they were under spot out of principle sure i am not the only one.
Thanks for the info. That's pretty amazing that Perth mint would do that. I figured something was up since the premium was so low, just thought maybe it was a high-mintage year for some reason. Obviously I'm not a kook collector (just 1992, 2011, 2012) just whatever had a low premium.
Yep. I find it amusing that most of the unlimited coins don't come close to 1 million, yet here we are with a mintage limit of 1mil on the kook.If the Kook is the standard 1oz bullion coin, whats the Koala's job? It's just shifting sands, with the PM going for an easy kill. I agree it will probably help the value of exsisting kooks, so 2 thumbs up for that.
Kind of expected that with increased demand for bullion products that mintage limits will be increased... they could have just scrapped mintage limits on the Kookaburra altogether and be done with it. Older Kooks just all became artificially scarcer (even if reminted) because of the 300,000/500,000 limits.
Talisman have had the full range of reminted Kookaburras for at least a year from memory. That's why a number of people weren't surprised that some 1992s finally trickled into the Australian market in recent weeks. Thanks for the prompt Ag47 - I recognised the listing as soon as you mentioned Talisman, I thought it was a German dealer that had the full series available, but it was Talisman.
Actually, now I recall silber-corner.de had comissioned some old kooks as well at one stage. I recall many years were available
I wished I would have known this sooner. Than i would have been able to complete a brand spanking new set of kooks instead of some toned ones.
