Today I have received my very first 10oz Coin. I chose to go for the 2013 Koala as this was the year my daughter was born so I shall give it to her.

    Anyway.

The coin appears to need cleaning. Could someone advise the best way, or product to use to clean this up? Will the surface return to it's original look? The edges look like they are missing a surface, is this normal for silver? (See pics)

    Do not clean the coin.
    Leave it as it is.
You will make it worst ......leave the mother nature tone the coin :)

It has finger prints all over it which I want to get off at least. Does the colour/aging of the silver look correct? If so then i'm happy.

It's bullion so go ahead and use a microfiber cloth. Oils from prints.

    EDIT:
Never remove these types of coins from their casing and handle, they head straight back to bullion.

Never clean coins generally, they loose value.

This coin is too far gone so do what you like with it.

I agree, never, ever clean a coin, but in this case, I think the premium has been destroyed with those finger prints. You won't get much over spot when you go to sell, so to gently try to remove the spots, nothing to lose. Keep in mind that even something as soft as cotton balls will scratch the surface. I know, it was a tough lesson learned. I never touch my coins no matter what after that lesson a couple years ago!

I purchased it for bullion anyway so that's absolutely fine (paid a bullion price).

I'll get a microfiber cloth on it just to get the finger marks off it. They would drive me mad otherwise. I assume silver cleaning solution wouldn't help here?

Pure silver is very sensible to abrasions/marks, do not attempt to clean it, as mentioned above it will be even worse.

I've done further reading on the-googles and it seems best to just leave it. It's frustrating tbh as i'll always look at it (bit like a dent in your car). I'll replace it with a perfect one in the future. For now... it can be classed as bullion.

In fact... I'm going to retract that. After reviewing my purchase it was actually described as "BRAND NEW". Clearly this isn't brand new. I'm going to return it or have a partial refund... i'll keep you guys updated with that happens.

Having fingerprints on the coin itself means it's been handled and can't be considered brand new anymore, if you can return it better you do that and get yourself a nicer one as replacement.

Seller has requested the item back after raising a dispute on eBay. I've talked to eBay as I'm concerned he won't have the cash to refund me and will try and pull a fast one. They told me if he doesn't refund the full amount by the 13th of June then they will refund me the money and chase him for it. Also sent me free recorded delivery email to print :)

I was really excited for owning my first 10oz coin and it being the coin I would have given to my daughter. Let down by this guy :/

I'm on the look out for a 10oz 2013 coin if anyone has one lurking about.

Thanks Ronnie. Reasonable price too. Once this coin is refunded i'll get an order placed for a brand spanking new one. Only a tad more than i paid for this crappy one. I'm just about to take it off to the post office and return it. Such a shame. Really enjoyed owning it, even if for a very short time.

What about getting the 2013 kooks instead? Looks way better than the koala imo.

Anyone know anywhere in the UK or Europe selling these. No silly 200+ prices.

A kind person advised of the added customs charges and this could knock the price up to 180 with VAT minis any other customs charges from Aus.

Have you tried something like Estonia silver? Really hard to escape the VAT charges unless you can find one locally.
