Kooks, Takus and those Elephants look good. Basically anything BrotherJohnF is into :p
Is anybody Aus-side selling the Somali Elephants?
I'd be keen on 20 or so if anybody wants to do an A***X group-buy (only place I've seen them).
I just bought some Takus from BB. I hear they're beautiful, can't wait to get them.

Ask Maggie see if she can do a buy later.

I think her internet's down at the moment so probably best not to flood her inbox yet.

Somalian Elephants? pfff... brotherjohnf tries to justify his purchase and everyone jumps on them? there are far better options out there.

You're far better off getting Takus for example.

Neither do maples or ASE and i'd have those over pretty much any bullion. Somalian Elephants are not big sellers thus the low premium, each to their own but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy them.

I'm a big fan of Takus and Philharmonics even though their design don't change.

Only mentioned Elephants as they had a mintage limit as an alternative, I actually don't own any and have no idea who this brotherjohnf is :p

He's a permabull that was telling his followers just last month that silver was surely going to $100/oz by years end.
He has a very large, uniformed following too. He bought some elephants and then advised others to do so, figured that's why people brought them up.

    There's a point there.
The Elephants haven't exactly gone bananas. although previous years seem to do OK. Why all the Elephants? Changing the animal might be a good idea to refresh the series and make the Elephants more special.
A Somali Cheetah/Hyena/Lion or other predatory animal would be awesome. Predators seem popular and tend to do well (as long as they are nicely done of course).

I see what he did there.

    Fake demand basically. Inflates price.

Yes indeed, it's reasons like this that I keep 1 eye on permabulls and commentators I really loath. Occasionally you can prevent someone in the forums from making a mistake, and in turn, hopefully they will do their own reaseach next time.

We live in Australia, why you would value an elephant over the readily available kooks, takus and koalas is something I cannot comprehend.

Well dare I say it but how about Lunars in the 2oz? They are typically spot +$8 which equates to spot +$4 per ounce which is less than the 1oz Kookaburra premium. Yes, the 2oz dont have a max limit, but the most ever minted were the 2010 Tiger @ 63,000. At 63,000 there will be roughly 8 2012 1oz kooks for every 1 2010 2oz Tiger. What will the 2oz Rabbit/Dragon mintage be? No-one knows for sure but sub 500,000 would almost be a certainty.

1/2, 2 and 5oz lunars would be great, but you cannot buy them (not @ kookaburra prices)
