I postal voted already, ended up trading my vote to my wife for sex since I don't give a crap myself. And... Hey! I'm not going to be the only person to get screwed in this election.
They have one of my favourite policies - tax the business of religion. However, I'm not willing to give away my primary vote.
Well it will certainly be interesting to see how much power prices rise go down when the libs get elected and abolish the carbon tax that is actually already gone! Im sure the $5 a week the average family will save without a carbon tax will make such a huge difference Just don't go getting your hopes up too much mate; Australia is screwed regardless of who wins and its the population as a whole's fault more so than the governments.
Both are the same party in most matters and they've lied their heads off during this campaign - Libs more than Lab since they really want to get in - but that is insignificant. Both throw up rhetoric that doesn't match their obvious intentions. Since they differ so little I'm going for an 'issue'. This has more potential to screw over Australia than anything either of those clowns do - sink the boats or fill roofs with pink batts. This is the closest we have to an option to a vote against the military industrial complex and its fascist globalisation in my opinion. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/breakfast/trade-talks/4689004 Libs are for. Labs are against. Settles my vote, so this time the donkey loses!
Can't vote LNP because I don't agree that tax dollars should pay for rich ladies designer babies. Can't vote ALP because I don't agree tax dollars should pay the wages of yet another massive government bureaucracy (goneski). So why bother, no other party has a hope in hell of forming government. Probably end up voting for Clive Palmer's party cause I'd like to only pay 15% income tax. Not like he will ever get that through an ALP or LNP run parliament though.
...and if Clive's candidate doesn't get up, who gets your preference? The most important boxes on your lower house ballot paper are the first, and the second last. The article Bullion Baron quoted is how I'm voting - ALP/LNP in the last two positions (not saying which order), with independents/minor parties ahead of them to help send a message that the major parties both suck. It's not wasting a vote to vote for a minor party or an independent - it's a smart way to send a message to your preferred "big two" party assuming you live in a seat that's going to go to one or the other.
Australian Sex Party sounds like a winner This is a real election add
Exactly!! Ive done my pros and cons a while back(no where near as long ago as you) and I ended up with labor, however I do pay attention to current happenings in politics. Each to their own though.
How anybody can consider the last 6 years as a satisfactory economic and political performance, I will never know. A third of voters think they pass the test. UNFKNBLVBLE! SJ
I never liked freedom of speech either. That's why I want them back in so that they can get back to work and push through those laws that will regulate and censor the media, introduce a licencing regime to make sure they comply, internet filtering/censoring and make it illegal to say things to my work colleagues that are reasonably likely to offend them based on my political opinions. I hate it when I'm offended. My mum taught me about sticks and stones and all that, but being offended makes me wanna cry. Even worse is when someone says something that is reasonably likely to offend me. They are just nasty, nasty bullies. They really gets my goat up and those fuckers should go to jail for having the audacity to say nasty things about my socialist politics that may potentially offend me (even if I'm not actually offended). A vote for Federal ALP (or the Greens) is a vote against freedom of speech which is soooo overrated. Just ask those Russians or North Koreans (Cubans, Chinese, Saudi's, Iranians, etc). They all love having their political opinions regulated and criminalised. Bring it on! Oh. And based on the ALP's release of their (highly trustworthy) costings after 5pm on the day before the 2007 and 2010 elections and their super-early release this election, the ALP are so right for attacking the stupid Liberals for having the gall to wait until Thursday when we can't create new misleading adverts. Go Rudd! You're da man because you're not Abbott (because that's important right?).
I only know of one candidate in my electorate and that's the current sitting member (Lib) who keeps sending us propaganda. I'm pretty sure I'm in a safe liberal seat so I guess noone else is trying anyway.
