lol gotta give them a glimmer of hope so they at least try doing it the right way .......& fail
If ya wanna be like me you need a little bit ofcommonsense  thats all ive got Im not the sharpest tool in the shed but you make me look like a brain surgeon
OK, I see your point, that companies get away with things supported by government cronyism. I think you meant government intervention distorting the markets. Do you think that companies will do what is best for the general populace or do what is best for their shareholders? Look for example at the Murray/Darling water system. Do you think that if a company/individual who owns the water rights at the top of the system will do what is best for the owners of the water rights at the bottom of the system? They won't! They will maximise their profits by selling water to the people at the top of the stream.
 C'mon Renovator, you've got to admit, that's pretty funny. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed either, but I'm prolly the bigest tool in the shed.
well if you are a single with high income bracket, no house assest and paying more than 40% tax a year; bet you'll hate it too!!
Tax is someone forcing you to pay whatever price for whatever product/service. The consequence of this doesn't need explanation. And 'privatizing roads'? That's dead simple. Those that want them, pay them. Just like any product. Toll booths? Haha. Why making it hard? All it needs, is a contract. That's a paper that describes the products/services you pay for..
We essentially aready have a "user pays" road tolling system thanks to our Govt. imposed fuel excise. The more you drive, the more fuel you use & therefore the more excise you pay. Problem is, the govt is diverting the excise collected away from roads. But exactly the same thing can (and has) occur with private toll roads.
We of the sinking middle class may sink without further struggles into the working class where we belong, and probably when we get there it will not be so dreadful as we feared, for, after all, we have nothing to lose. - George Orwell Source: Jim Sinclair blog
I always thought of body corporate fees as being a tax too, just seems to be swapping one unavoidable fee for another one. At least you can join in on the body corporate and have a say in how the money is to be spent.
Exactly! Tax IS evil ... and therefore could never be defended as being 'nescessary'... Else one may as well propose the question "Was the holocaust a nescessary evil?" Ridiculous question, right?!? Well so too is the question of the thread. Those defending the indefensible obviously don't believe in individual freedoms as a fundamental human right.
If anyone thinks tax is a necessary evil you have not stumbled across Stefan Molyneux. This guy has the most sound logic, rationality and only goes off empirical evidence. Which led him to become an anarcho capitalist, which I believe is the end point of any libertarian thinking person Listen to some of his free books or podcasts, he is really good, it will blow your mind http://www.freedomainradio.com/
What is 'necessary' is what people are willing to pay for. Tax doesn't ask. It forces. So tax and necessity exclude eachother.
