I think they are on the coin itself and part of the coin art. The scratched up affect is only on the part of the coin where the bite mark is. Fantastic looking coin though.
The scratch marks and holes form part of the design of the coin representing bite marks! The holes in the coin are one of the reasons for the lengthy delay to the release date of the Great White Shark coin. The NZ Mint has to get weight perfected as a result of the 'bite' holes having been drilled out. The mint is privately owned and has recently changed hands. The new owner is Simon Harding.
is the bike-marks see-through from reserve to observe side? I can't see it from the queen side (observe side). , and what is the price now?
I have found two sites taking orders at very interesting price and I think that stock won't last long (or price will be increased), so I would like to share with community: Power Coin (Italy) GREAT WHITE SHARK: $89.95 Eur FENG SHUI - KOI: $69.95 Eur http://www.powercoin.it/new-products.php APMEX (US) GREAT WHITE SHARK: http://www.apmex.com/Product/67728/2012_1_oz_Silver_Niue_2_Great_White_Shark_W_Box__COA.aspx FENG SHUI - KOI: http://www.apmex.com/Product/67731/2012_1_oz_Silver_Niue_2_Feng_Shui___Koi_Fish_W_Box__COA.aspx Thanks, Alex.
Thx for sharing the links and prices with us Alex, however I do hope that whoever has ordered with Maggie will honour their order with her. My order will stay with Maggie.
Ya i'm sticking with my order. Maggie put a lot of effort into setting this up and looks bad on the person for pulling out. Emergencies do happen of course but if a person is just pulling out to use another person then that seems pretty bad to me. On another note i cant wait to get this coin!
Hi, yes of course the order with Maggie have to be honored, links were just to propose alternative sources for extra coins beside the ones already ordered with Maggie, maybe better for who is in Europe (powercoin) or in US (apmex) cause sometime import taxes, GST/VAT etc. may easily increase the cost by 30% of what one expects. Alex.
Apmex has had these listed with no price for two months now, and still no price. They may not get them in at all. Who knows? Your best bet would have been to go with Maggie. She has kept everyone informed here and has a lot of time invested speaking with the mint to find out what is going on with these coins.
Thanks for the info Alex. I hadn't ordered one yet and the Powercoins prices are very tempting... I don't see much upside with the Koi with 8000 mintage but the shark at 5000 may be promising. Than again look at the Chinese Dragon with mintage of 5000... Those who wait may be able to get it below issue price... I have done preorders from Powercoins before and they have never failed to deliver.
I agree with the above. Alex, very bad form taking Maggie out at the knees. She has helped most us out a great deal many times. I will keep my order with her as well, and I am sure this is not appreciated, especially with her sponsoring the site. Not to mention the lack of etiquette involved here. Thank you Maggie for taking care of this buy.
Ooops.... sorry I didn't mean to do something bad. I just wanted to propose alternatives, I saw a few post above (#155) someone from Italy asking, and powercoin they are based in Italy, so I thought that best option would be to order local instead of have the coins shipped from overseas with customs fees and all. Just posted these links cause I found very useful when someone in another thread helped me to find a Hedgehog coin at $199.00 when after a week that coin was selling at least twice. Said that, I'll make my order with Maggie too as soon as full cost is disclosed, cause I am sure she got a very good discount from the mint. Alex.
At current rates, the abovementioned prices in euros equate to $89.95EUR = $113.33AUD and $69.95EUR = $88.14AUD
Agree, Maggie is doing a very good job. Special using forums messaging system is not an easy task. Froggy
Anyone able to confirm if the bite marks actually go though the coin and are visible from both sides? i.e.) you can see though them? Thanks!
