ok. 1kg is 1000g so 92.5% silver would have 925g and 50% would have 500g of silver respectively. you can convert that to ounces by dividing by 31.3g/troy oz. ie 1kg of 92.5% sterling would have 925/31.1 = 29.74 oz; 1kg of 50% silver would have 500/31.1 = 16.07 oz.

Thanks. Much easier to understand than those books and google site. I just want to know the logic behind it on how it works rather than getting the answer right away from the book. Thanks again!

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but I noticed the first post of this thread was referring to silver. What about gold?

Also a new stacker and have found some very good guidance on these here forums. Instead of discussing which places are cheapest, I would be curious to ask what premiums above spot are a good target to be looking for when it comes time to SELL. The town I am in has just one metals dealer, he will offer to buy for spot price +6% for Ag and 3% for Au. Is this standard?

    Hi everyone.

It's great to be part of an online community and its taken me a while to actually join and I have just been reading and educating myself since 2009. I think I joined today because I have INITIATED myself into the club/forum. I received my first 100 oz of silver bars from the Perth Mint which I ordered last week. I was actually waiting for it to come down to a spot price of $37 or under which happened today. After patting myself on the back for my prediction lol I calculated I could have gotten another 10 ounces if I waited lol. I had the dollars last week and went ALL IN and figured I am not TOO late for the party seeing as when I first started this journey, I think silver was around $20/oz in September of 2009. So it took me 2 years to physically take action and I MOMENTARILY thought to myself with todays delivery and price drop, "yeah the party is finished-late again" lol NO WAY! Bigger picture when you throw in some more time, I am UNFASHIONABLY EARLY. Party is just getting started for me although from what I've read over the years some of you should be fairly intoxicated.

I was having a laugh just staring at these 10 shiny bars this morning and thinking "OMG, If I threw this at an intruder right now, it would be a pretty expensive bump on the head" bahahaha

I am thankful for this online community of like minded individuals because I am an ALIEN in my current offline community. I mean, the people I have spoken with are oblivious and think I am on a different planet with what I say. I just tell them to look it up for themselves and stop being so lazy AND don't come back and say "why didn't you tell me".

OK enough of my rambling and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to ramble freely.

p.s. Is it alright to hold these bars because I must have looked pretty stupid to my 3 year old with different socks on my hands like I was handling precious metals lol. ( I don't know what was going on in my head-must have been going silver-buggers)

Very good information, it's great when people research the facts and clearly address topics.

Is there anywhere apart from Ainslie that people recommend in Brisbane? Or between Bundaberg and Brisbane?

Also is there a specific place in Martin Pl, Sydney where I can buy PM?
