@Court Jester cash May be king up until the helicopter money starts, then it will be confetti. I would definitely rather be sitting on my pile of metal when that moment comes because I think you may have a hard time trying to find physical.
the GFC was an **ACTUAL** finanical crisis this is not its a health crisis that will be much more short lived there wont be the unlimited QE like with teh GFC it will recover far quicker. Quite frankly people are panicky idiots you can clearly see that by looking at the toilet paper isle in your local supermarket this will blow over quickly
I'm in agreement with you on this. I bet that Trump will get the virus and go and TV and say, look, I'm fine, smiling and then before you know it, the "crisis" will be over.
Yes, this is not the "2020 collapse" predicted by anyone, it wasn't driven by the fundamentals of the market imploding, it was a black swan event.
Okay, what are the stocks that will do well in the coming weeks / months due to people shuttering themselves up....In years past some of the best performing stocks were alcohol and theaters...so I guess movie theaters are out, with maybe the exception of the last few remaining drive-in's. I suspect, online entertainment will see increased demand and with that goes increased internet traffic and people maybe ramping up their home NBN / broadband deals to provide extra bandwidth for the foreseeable future. Consumption of alcohol (at home) may increase too...shame we have no listed beer makers in Australia anymore.
In 2008 it was Domino's and Video Ezy that did well so add take away food chains to your looky list...uber eats or the like potentially?
travel companies or companies that are in the travel industry like webjet qantas sydney airport flight center etc they will rebound at some point.
They say it is spreading in Africa. So, the fact that the virus dies at 25 degrees C is not true after all? What if it spreads in Africa and mutates with AIDS-Ebola-Plague-Syphilis-Hepatitis and turns into a FrankenVirus that'll eat concrete and spit fire?
Don't even want to imagine. They have 81 cases currently. "Experts" say we shouldn't worry, the virus can't survive more than 25 degrees C. We'll see if that's true or not. If not... It's doomsday. We'll lock ourselves in our homes.
Right now (for the moment) CASH IS KING - they'll be able to QE and slash interest rates "under the radar". The masses are too dumb to see this. They think it's "help coming" or "just some other financial news...". Slashed interest rates and store closures will lead to massive bank runs soon. I saw long lines at banks and ATM's in the past 2-3 days. Unusually long lines even at the ATM's that people barely use. People are taking their money out.
25C is too low. If a human being is comfortable at 25C, what more of a virus? Incidentally, my aircon is set at 25C.
