FIREBIRD BULLION!!!!

I’m up for a challenge
I can easily do a 5oz swirly FIREBIRD BULLION bar once my stamp arrives. Probably a few weeks.
As for making the swirls into bird shapes ill have to do some research and experimenting. At this stage the swirls happen organically when cooling or when tapping the side of the mould with the crucible and you never know what your going to get which for me is all apart of the suspense and excitement ha ha

You'll do fine mate. ;)

The work bench in flames is quite impressive! ;)

You've probably already thought about a fire-proof surface.
Firebricks are very expensive, I had an old wood heater that was lined with
damaged firebricks so I replaced them but not with firebricks.
Clay pavers do the trick, they take a lot of heat and may be the ticket as an interim
fix; easy to replace a few as well.

Hmmmmm? Pouring silver like making a cappuccino, I hadn’t thought of that :) Ill try it and see what happens

Just do not try drinking it:)

I am really looking forward to you getting your stamp and smashing things out:)

Yeah I have fire bricks but found when ever silver splashed out of the mold it would stick to the brick and contaminate the silver. When any splashed silver lands on the wood it just turns into a clean ball.
I’m actually going to put a piece of granite on the bench instead and see how that goes :)

PS
If you wanted to get more ripples in the silver a cheap electric air pump
or similar small engine bolted to the timber might provide nice patterns. ???

Yeah I thought about that but something I haven’t tried yet which I’ve seen work well is to wave the blow torch flame back and forwards over the cooling metal to create some nice ripples and swirls :)
Hopefully try it tonight

Have you tried to refine 925 silver?
Do you mean 925 refined to 999? No haven’t tried that. Watched some people do it on YouTube but that’s another game altogether.
Would be cool to melt some 925 though into a bar.
