Junk Silver, King George IV teaspoons, nearly 200 years old.

I'm not really into buying junk silver but I was running out of teaspoons.

It'll be interesting to see who's the first person to notice what they're using when we have people around for a cuppa. It'll make for a good talking point.

What do those stamps represent on the spoons?

Some spoons have symbols that represent the country from which they come from (France, Sweden etc.).

If your refering to the L+W then at this stage yoir guess is as good as mine.

Possibly the initials of the person or couple that the spoons were stolen from by light fingered servant sometime in the 18th century.

The first Mark is the journeyman’s mark (silversmith), the 2nd mark ‘IH’ is the silver maker John Harris, the 3rd Mark is the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, the 4th Mark is the date mark ‘m’ is 1827 (yes King George IV ), 5th Mark is Leopard head indicating made in London, last Mark is the duty mark of the King.
This is the most interesting item I have seen in a long time. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love it.

Number 47, now consider yourself living in late 1979 when the silver price went parabolic. You are sitting on 6 teaspoons which would bring in somewhere between 800 - 1200 dollars ( I am guessing the total weight of 2 to 3 ounces ) in today’s price. Tempting to sell and change to stainless wouldn’t you think!
I wonder how many sets like this and old coins for that matter were melted down in those crazy days?

I picked up a Popeye silver round. Says cartoon collectibles and minted by amc and hes holding a can of spinach haha.
I grew up with those cartoons and it caught my eye.
My son got it for spot and I really wanted it so he let me take it. He buys and sells alot and just picked up a hoard from the lcs so he let me look through it. I gave him a $20 for it and it's all good.
I would have taken more but that other sdbullion spot deal cleaned me out. I got all Ben Franklins with that and recieved it yesterday so I was stoked.
I cant get a pic of the Popeye round to load. It says the file is too big.

You can use an online picture reduction website to shrink the file size. Just google "reduce jpeg file size" and you will be spoilt for choice

Just took delivery, bought in oct, the premium is insane, so just for collection, not for investment. Luckily, it's a nice coin. In my opinion, better than the Lunar 2. For some reason, it feels heavier than 1 oz of gold, I think it's a mind trick that when something is smaller and of the same weight, it feels heavier. I don't have any lunar 3 silver, perhaps I should have bought the kilo in Nov?
