Getting this message at about 6.00pm AEDT: "An error was encountered Error: Unable to check for new messages."
We know that it is being dealt with as we "speak" but I have not even been able to log out after 10 or more attempts and the last few days have been the worst by far . The last 2 weeks have been very annoying a bit like me :lol: CGS
Inserting a tap directly into the server rack with feeds out to the ATO, AUSTRAC and ASIO. Or maybe something to do with the new mandatory data retention laws?
Last night I tried several times to access SS SITE as usual as per favorites. When I tried Googling SS I finally gained access. I certainly don't know much about computers. Has anyone else tried to access the SS site through google. Was it just a fluke? Regards Errol 43
The functionality of SS website has been very intermittent in the last 24 hours. It is very likely to be a fluke as it worked for one minute, then it didn't work the next.
seems like website issues have been causing consternation, in future maybe a message on the silver stackers FB and/or twitter account could keep members updated when the system is down ...
This one is being problematic to solve. It appears to be a problem with the web server performance degrading over several hours of uptime, which we've never had in the past. For now as a kludge the web server will be automatically bounced every hour (which is a horrible thing to do), but this generally takes less than a second, so if you see a glitch on the hour, just hit refresh. Investimagations are continuing. Meanwhile, the database is growing VERY large - if you could check your PMs, please reduce them if you've got more than a few hundred - there's 700,000 PMs in the database at the moment. I may have to do another "anything over 12 months old" cull if they don't organically reduce. For the 60% of members who are in Australia - remember that I'm in the US now, and I'm generally not online in the second half of the day, which is why I've introduced the scheduled restarts to try and keep things performing while I sleep.
There is something seriously wrong with the site still. I do not know if everyone has experienced what I have for over 2 weeks but Can't log in - can't log out - can't - can't - can't. Don't shoot the messenger - just saying. Hoping for some resolution soon. Good luck. CGS

Tried getting on this morning from 7:12am(bris time)...would wait for page to time out and go to error message then refreshing...finally at 7:44am(bris time) was successful.(from then pages load fast. I have kinda been taking note of the times over the last couple of days and observed from an average of XX:09 past the hour is bad, and gets better from an average of XX:39 past the hour gets better. (only averages and varys slightly) Don't know if it helps in any way targeting the problem but seems to be recurring on those times.
