One thing that strikes me as strange is that everyone's focus on 'spot' price fails to take into account that the price referenced by that refers to buying a 5000oz contract/bar (of alleged/imaginary silver ) The costs associated with shipping that massive lump of ore to refiners to turn into smaller refined bars/coins/rounds and the associated distribution networks, some believe doesn't require any cost aknowlegement. Madness  Those who believe that the ongoing manipulation of the silver prices, which have led to the current undervaluing of the 'real' price of silver, have given us the opportunity to get access to take physical posession of this precious metal at 'bargain' prices should really be taking a long, hard look at themselves when they're whining about the additional cost to purchase it. Get it while you can...soon enough there won't be any to get
Yippekiya , ill find out how to melt silver and pour it into 1 ounce sized moulds. you donate some of those god awful ainslee bars and we can trade in one ounce rounds at spot
The Canning Mint will sell you a copper round for $14, the cost for us to get one made is around $12. The Canning Mint is operated by one man in Queensland, he stamps out his own planchettes (he reuses Crowns for the silver medallions) and makes his own dies. he then makes the medallions individually. If you can beat that price we will get the next lot of medallions made by you, sorry Bruce!
@ malachi's post. Another indication that the perceptions on this forum have changed. If you are apvt seller, don't expect my business if you can't beat a dealer's price.
Ignoring everything else I would just buy from the cheapest place possible for what I want be it a dealer or eBay or SS. Which is what malachii was saying I think?
Yes it is "what someone is prepared to pay", not "well I demand to get the same as a dealer and anyone who disagrees is just a lowballer". Source: my brain
I'll continue to support dealers who dont ask intrusive questions as well as private sellers who do the same. In the end it's the silver I'm after - I dont care who I source it from - it's still worth the same. savvie??
Thats a good source shiney, it seems to confirm what my source suggests. If you want to fill the trading section with absurd prices just go to ebay, if u want to charge $5 under dealer price and say its a bargain supply your address and ABN and all the access to all the laws you must comply with so I can rest assured I have recourse if you sell me a lump of lead, or its second rate in anyway, or if it doesnt turn up. And I'll' be happy to pay it. I've just had another great idea A button called "dreamin" and if your sales thread gets 3 dreamins , it can no longer be bumped up the chart and you only annoy yourself
yippekiyas just concerned about the mafia. Its got nothing to do with high prices for 2nd hand goods. If he wanted to buy mafia- free he could buy through me. I have mafia immunity ( i saw a dealer selling silver for $32 an ounce yesterday and saw dreamers selling it for alot more here with zero overhead. Why was it so cheap? because it was second hand bullion)
Gross oversimplification. For the majority of dealers, buybacks are minimal compared to their inventory size. The myth that dealers get their metals at below spot or near spot prices is just that, a myth.
also, I forgot to mention - not sure why anybody would be willing to pay more for the same item from a dealer? Is it perhaps because he insists on a photocopy of your drivers license along with a whole string of other intrusive questions which you need to fill in and is kept on record for the powers that be to come have a look at whenever they like? If that's the attraction then private sellers could always demand the same if it would make you feel more comfy
lol - yeh ironic that, considering that most of the stuff for sale there is considerably above spot price. which is as it should be considering it's physical bullion and not paper bullsh1t!
