Awesome info people. Thankyou very much. I am looking forward to being there. Now to adjust all my domain searches to fit these new insights in. I am surprised no one mentioned the perth mint adjacent accomodation.
Compared to anywhere I think it's cheap, especially for a capital city. Was one of the reasons I sold my car and bought a motorbike, saved an average of $60/wk in just parking costs alone Personally I find the area around The Mint to be a bit dodgy (even during the day) so wouldn't recommend any accom there. Wasn't impressed to find out the shops weren't open on the weekends but as GiLa said, they just started trading every day now. Seems like they've finally caught up with the East Coast for stuff like that. There'll be a lot more improvements by the time you arrive in 18 months, Perth council are quite proactive in trying to accomodate such a fast growing population and as a result there's a lot of work planned for infrastructure, housing and transport.
That's funny I just moved here as well and I've been told: "whatever you do, don't rent south of the river, that's where all the bogans are." I guess we're all the bogan of somebody else...
