Just saw this posted on another bullion centered board but I think it important enough to spread around with the river of fakes threatening to become a flood. This machine at around US $700 right now is a little pricey but not nearly as pricey as the X-ray machines. And the price will come down as (irony of ironies) the Chinese reverse engineer it and flood the market with cheap, but functional, copies. http://youtu.be/v_6XbbuDc9U
I love the fact that it can verify a coin/bar in a capsule, slab, or carded. Brilliant! It's technology like this which convinces me that you don't have to pay higher premiums for top name brand "recognizable" bullion products. It no longer matter that you are buying the lowest premium ZYX brand instead of a high premium ABC brand so long as it can be verified to be good. Goodbye high premium bullion....nice to have known you! .
This is amazing, for a more accurate reading I guess it is best to test the item in several places. I wonder what the total landed cost to the UK is going to be. I am going to buy one of these.
The price is actually $900 if you want the additional wands, I think you need the bullion wand to measure bars because of their thickness. I wonder how accurate this really is, hopefully it works well. http://www.sigmametalytics.com/purchase.html I am going to put one of these on my list of things to purchase.
Found another video on the device http://youtu.be/C1BhZQ3zCEE also: The user chooses from a built-in menu which alloy is to be tested, and the coin or bullion item is then placed on the unit's sensor. The Precious Metal Verifier then measures if the conductivity of the sample being tested is consistent with its extensively researched database of metals. Metals that can be measured include pure gold, 22-karat gold (.9167 fine), 90 percent gold, American Eagle gold, .9999 silver, .999 silver, .900 fine Morgan and Peace silver dollars, other 90 percent silver items, .925 fine sterling silver and Britannia silver (.9584 fine). Rarer materials such as platinum, palladium and rhodium are also included in the standard measurements.
Seems legit - but I would want confirmation that it's not a Rangefinder style box inside. Would be good to see some exhaustive blind testing with known fakes and genuine coins.
Via Wikipedia was this site. Looks like they produced something similar customised for various types of precious metals. http://zappitec.com/?p=p&l=e#
I agree about the blind testing. This machine seems to be all over the net, I suspect that testing and reports will be coming out soon. I'm really hoping it's the genuine article. we damn sure need it.
Think about the implications - "Silver accepted here" at some retailers because they could test without XRF.
Is this reading within the brackets or outside of them. Because if inside then any silver plated copper tested may seem to be genuine silver to someone testing.
I think it's actually quite easy for anyone to find replica/imitation silver coins and bars....AliExpress is not the only source....you might be surprised if I told you some of the places I had seen replica silver and gold coins being sold. .
Well if people want to find them , let them But we shouldn't be pointing people there & giving people ideas
that links been posted on ss many times. Why pick up on this now? I think I know the answer. mayby you should look at your bias and chill a little.
