Looks like not many were put out this week. Hopefully a few people have dropped off the hunt and we can score some next week.

Some people must have to much money? Why would someone still be paying $50 - $60 per coin when you can buy now with post at $29? And probaly around $10 in a few weeks.Talk about hysteria !!!

    What am I missing ?

    2 million mintage

Lots of people know about it so barely any of them will actually go into circulation - they will all be hoarded as soon as they see daylight.

How much collection value will there be in 2 million UNC coins ?

I thought it was 1.5m? At any rate you are right, this release seems to have caught the eye of more of the general public so even more will be hoarded away. Quite unlike the coronations which I think will remain a pretty steady price.

Goes to show if you look hard enough and lucky enough you can still get them.

I for one cannot even find one of them near me. i don't even have one to show my customers on how it looks like in real life.

Yesterday i came close to one, at the coffee shop the guy in front of me got one in his change. When it was my turn to get change the young lady showed me her till and they were all the old coins. Needless to say i asked the the lucky guy did he want to part with his new $2 coin, he looked at me even thou i offered him $10, he said no and placed it in his pocket :(

the hunt is half the fun, i heard a lot of people are having luck at the commonwealth banks.

The bag came from a bank where my brother in law works. All the staff where he works including him have no interest in coins but they all know about this coin.

He said his branch received 2k in red $2 coins and none made it into circulation, all snapped up by staff. He called me and told me he had them. I said I would take the lot, his response, in your dreams...lol

It's going to be tough to find any if you don't know someone on the inside.

All staff where he worked had no interest yet snapped up $2k worth? I would call that interest.

No interest in numismatics, but plenty of interest in making a quick buck!

Sadly this is very true, i have been approached by a few bank tellers offering me these coins. not to mention any banks names, one particular teller came in with a complete bag of these $2 coins.

wanted :( $650 per small bag

needless to say i said no to the price. after that she said $600, i still said no then she added their are plenty of people that will pay $600 per bag for these really rare coins!!! 1.5 million coins i would not exactly call them rare.

Ive been to several banks too, no luck. Probably the last few posts from James G & Garnet are correct - if you don't have someone on the inside, you've only got 2 chances (none and buckley's) Bit frustrating for those that aren't trying to flip it for a quick profit, but to collect them for the long run. Oh well, there plenty of other cool stuff around.

Same here. Thanks anyway for the updates Garnet and James (seriously, $650 for a bag?!). Well I suppose the mint will have some cool coins coming up for the 50th Anniversary of decimal currency soon.

So is this the new RAM release strategy? Release a limited amount of coins for genral circulation withold them from any coin dealers or anyone who has a legitimate collecting interest, pass them on to their authorised currency distributers who hold on to them, place them on the secondary market and sell for 50 x face value , the general public believes they are rare due to there price and that they havent/wont hit the streets so they buy up big and hoard them and you have 1.5 million uncirculated $2 coins that some have paid up to $100 each that wont appreciate because their are 1.5 million of them still uncirculated and no one will want to sell at a loss. Crazy. I'll still probably get one though . lol.

Spot on Theox. What is so wrong with the distribution method like the 2014 Rememberence $2 coin ? Sold through dealers, in rolls, singles, available from RAM in carded format for $12.95, everyone can afford one, everyone is happy, dealers make a bit, collectors are happy. etc
Perhaps what the RAM could have done is also donate profits from sale of the carded Unc coins to Legacy, or similar. Then EVERYONE would be happy.

At least with the Coronation $2 they took phone orders for a maximum of 5 coins per person. Why can't they do that with this one?

Just quick question, how much do you think for a $1 2015 ANZAC? I have few bags (1k coins each big bag - 20 coins in small bag) from RAM.
