Hey guys New to stacking and recently saw this go off... wow Is the dragon really worth that much??? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1999-200...70766879390?pt=AU_Bullion&hash=item3f0af6b29e - Somerset
Hi all, Nice to meet all of you! I'm a new memeber to this website. I've started collecting silver coins only in the last couple of months and really enjoying it. I found this website and have been reading many of the postings since then. I joined this website today because I saw a Perth Mint Series I 1Kg Lunar Dragon proof silver coin from eBay, according to my understanding, all PM coins have a "P" symbol printed on the face of the coin, however, I cannot see it anywhere on this coin, I cannot say that this coin is counterfeit, but I'm really sceptical. Seeing one has been sold by the same seller and more bidders are getting into bidding the current one, as this is a pricy piece, I'm just a bit concerned (I hope I'm wrong so that these bidders are really getting what they wanted), if this coin is a replica, it is very unfortunate that there is no way to warn bidders! Post from eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320714956248&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT One I found from an external site: http://www.australianstamp.com/coin-web/aust/bulldec/silver/2000lki2.htm
I don't want to misjudge as I am not an expert in silver coins, but I'm just sceptical about the current listing and also want anyone be really careful and do the research when buying pricy items on eBay.
Checked several listings, most don't have the P mark for some reason ? They do however illustrate a COA with the production number.
Seriously!?..Ohh what a shame...well, I suppose you'll be flogging it off then.... I'll guess I could begrudgingly take it off your hands
Just got the following reply from the seller.. "...the proof you'll notice I haven't stated that it is a proof set. However it is minted at the perth mint and there is no other catergory to put the coin on ebay except coins"
Hi I just checked the previous item they sold which is also a dragon and neither have certificate number ? showing but the box looks identical bottom right hand corner could be a coincidence Meeko
I asked the seller and he provided the cert. number of the current item. I think the photos are just only for illustration. Having second thought, I think it is very difficult to replicate this coin and I haven't read from anywhere there is replicated Perth Mint coins found in the market. Likely it is original.
