Like the video & comment, if you have a YouTube account.. Sold out in 21 minutes! I've got a package on the way..
Looks like a privately commissioned release? Could do one for silver stackers if GP gives it the go ahead.
From the sounds of it, I don't believe any money changed hands or will be changing hands between YPS & Slacker on these.. Save for Slacker's purchase of a handful of Skulls to do with as he pleases (some for his collection, some for gifts, one for contest giveaway). If that's what you mean by "commissioned." Although YPS does do some private-label minting (as they did for Maggie's line, for example), I don't think this was exactly the case in this instance. One reason being, "YPS" is stamped on them. I'm guessing it was a matter of Slacker being introduced to YPS products, going ga-ga over them since he's a huge fan of poured Ag (he did order 230 ounces of YPS not too long ago for his own collection as a 1st order, LOL), and then subsequently introduced these YPS pieces to the YouTube masses through his widely-watched unboxing video. Although he certainly wasn't the 1st, he was by far the most popular YouTuber, reaching quite a few viewers/subscribers. This, of course, bumped YPS up to the next level. Though even prior to this, the business was already firing on all cylinders, growing pretty rapidly in the past 6 months or so. I believe these 4-oz Skulls were perhaps just YPS's way of saying thanks to Slacker, honestly, for bringing that much more exposure & sales. They probably got to talking, how Slacker loves the Skulls so much, blah blah blah, etc.. And now, we have these. With other pieces to come, apparently. Anyway, I'm sure YPS would be open to a Silver Stackers bar or two. If / when they have time, LOL. And I'm sure some of us here would be interested in purchasing!
4oz Silver Slacker poured lion (mintage 150)...limit 2/household - sold out within 30 minutes tonight at 20:00 EST (Y.P.S. website had 300 online users chasing them ...was a bit of a gong show)
If the site could have handled all those (potential) buyers repeatedly hitting refresh, those Lions would have sold out in like 2 minutes. That site was crashing hard.. Kind of funny & sad at the same time.
Hmm, lately there's something about people clamouring over things with limited mintages. First the 2-coin APMEX fiasco, now this. I suppose that's an easy way to make a profit. Just commission a nice/cool looking round/bar, and just produce <500 of them.
Profit? Easier said than done, oddly. At least with this one, there was no funny business re: issue price..
Fad silver. Looks appealing now. In a years time it wont. Ask Chris Duane he's the guru of fad silver. Glad it's your money, not mine. They belong on the gear stick of a dragstar..........
Oh yeah forgot to mention. Silver slacker can afford to buy a ton of silver, but can't afford a new table ? Or is that the same cheap teak table Argent Agent had...Damn that table gets around. Or is that table sitting in a office of a bullion distributor / wholesaler ? Hate to be cryptic and turn the tables....................
Fad or not the 4oz skulls have sold on the secondary market for more than double the issue price, so there's money to be made right now if you can get them. Who would say no to a 100% profit in days?
Weird.. YPS has been pouring for at least several years now. During this time, his pieces have only become exponentially more popular. Older pieces can be difficult to find on the secondary market, as it seems they're in strong hands. Those that do break free, oftentimes sport quite a premium. And this was all true even before Silver Slacker ever stumbled upon YPS. Also weird.. I found out about YPS over a year ago. Since that time, my collection has only expanded. And if anything, my fondness for these pieces has only increased. I have even actively seeked out & purchased some of those early retired pieces to help fill out my collection. They are staying put for years to come. As for Silver Slacker.. His story is that he owns something like 7 single-family properties -- outright. Housing is fairly cheap in his neck of the woods. Those with a few bucks & some ambition can make things happen. These properties are rented out. With no mortgages, one must assume cash-flow must be pretty good. And with no mortgages, rolling over the cash-flow & turning 1 rental property into 7, over the years, isn't all that unbelievable. He now apparently directs most of that money into Ag, instead. He's also admitted his frugality. The old table is a sign of that. Did you know that my only camera is a piece-of-crap that's 12 years old -- that I got for free? I could easily turn a few measly pieces of Ag into a new one, which would be nice. Yet I don't. Which accusations do you have for me?
YPS has been pouring bars for quite a while. The 3-D stuff came a little later. Some of the older, more rare items do get pricey... http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-29973-hand-pours.html
