hey stackers! Looking for a US $10 gold indian coin, as long as its been slabbed and graded,,any grade and date is fine. Specifically wanting a graded coin due to these coins being highly copied, even having correct weight and gold composition! Not sure that buying coins that are slabbed will protect you from forgeries silverado999 as there fake slabs around as well coming out of China
A lot of the pre33 gold forgeries came out of the middle east in the 60's and 70's .They were made out of the same gold composition and size and weight, they were made for the numismatic profit on top of the gold value. They would melt down say a gold $20 piece and make 4 X $5 pieces,,,, a lot of the copy's made their way to the USA at that time , something to do with the gold ban over there I think , they were getting sold to collectors there. They were paying a numismatic premium over the gold value. A lot got weeded out when the third party grading parties came about, but still some around. There's a lot about this stuff on NGC and pcgs website that's very interesting. A lot of the pre 33 gold is in their top 50 or 100 most counterfeit coins ,,
