Hi all, I'm looking to buy a box off 1oz silver maple leaves and wondered the most cost effective way of doing it. I can currently get for $26.80 per oz but thought that you guys may know of better options. Thanks Tinman
Better options would be Australian Kangaroos, American Silver Eagles, Austrian Philharmonics, Buffalo or Pegasus rounds..... Maples (and many silvers from Canadian mint) have a bad tendency to milk spot and kill any product premium. Though maybe that wasn't what you were asking?
Bullionmoney has them for $26.29 at the moment. I follow BuggedOut. A monster box of 2017 Kooks are only $1.50 extra and much better bullion play and the world love them
^ageeed. I like the maples but they are not as good as others for future resale value. What about current year lunar?
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm new to stacking and am open to suggestions. Fat Penguin: can you pm me with what you have Aussie silver: I'll check out Bullion money Bugged Out: thanks for the info
Maples are not that bad, they are 9999 which is higher purity than most coins. they r widely recognised and have $5 face value (higher than most bullion coins) And when u see milk spots, you can be sure it's definitely silver and not a fake coin
Just checked out Bullion Money and it seems better priced than abc bullion. In regards to selling silver, is this site the best option?
Have a bit of a read up about the differences between Semi-Numismatic Bullion Coins, Generic Coins and Generic Rounds. The premiums can differ markedly, especially for semi-numismatics with older year mintages. A bit of a price buy guide I use is :- Semi-Numis : Spot +10 to 20% (Kooks, Lunars, Pandas) Generic Coins : Spot +5 to 10% (Eagles, Philharmonics, Kangaroos, Maples) Generic Rounds : Spot +2 to 5% (Buffalos, Pegasus) It all depends on what you want and why you're stacking. A bit of extra research and diligence up front can save you a decent chunk of money and ensure you don't get taken advantage of. Keep an eye on the forum here and you'll see some bargains come up....and some not-so-bargains. Also look through the history of posts and you'll see what sells for what prices.
Consider how you are going to convert it back to money. Premiums can be preserved by buying bulk and selling multiple tubes or one at a time, but unless you have the personality this become tedious. If you are planning to sell back to a dealer, than why not just buy 15 x 1kg bars?
Im stacking for investment purposes and to store wealth as I expect the Aud to devalue over the coming years. I suppose I'm looking at 1oz coins so that I can utilise gradually when needed. Ipvready: buying in bulk and selling of slowly is what I'm thinking
If you are breaking the bulk to sell, then coins already in capsules are potentially helpful (Lunars, most (but not all) Perth Mint).
Myself, I would just buy smaller amounts more frequently, anything purchased over $5,000 at the bullion dealers requires identification, drivers licence, medicare etc. I don't know about you but I'm a bit paranoid about that. You could also build up a good position in gold and silver doing it that way. But that's just me, you do what you want.
