I didnt say 1oz coins selling for spot + 10% but I was referring to the spot per oz

    http://www.goldstackers.com.au/store/low-premium/low-premium-10oz-silver.html

    Is basically spot + 10%

    http://www.goldstackers.com.au/store/low-premium/low-premium-1oz-silver.html

    Is spot + 15%

If your prepared to just buy anything spot + 10% is available

also quickly looking up prices of silver in the UK I can easily find silver under $30 AUD an oz in the UK after VAT

    http://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/silver-bars/1kg-silver-bar/

That is $29.23 per OZ AUD after the 20% VAT is added.

My guess is the OP is buying high premium silver that has small numismatic value or something and not just going for silver to stack

Even the cheap silver coins on that website are $31.36 AUD for the Philharmonic's

Can you buy low premium silver overseas and then pay the VAT on entry?

That sounds like it would be a cheaper option than paying $37.50/oz locally.

Nope & and I can't afford a Kilo bar right now.

Price for 1/oz Philharmonic is 39.4269 AUD if you buy less than 5.

So your best bet would be to save abit of fiat and buy a 1 kg bar. I thought it was an investment not just buying single coins for numis.
To be fair to your government the tax is only ~ $7.89
Dealer is asking spot + 40% at the price your quoting which is well over what you should be paying.
