Official, 'indicative only' - whatever that means... (Ukraine's 8% is highlighted because this graphic was used by ZH in their recent article suggesting the US have taken possession of UA gold for 'safekeeping')
Can't help but notice the list of countries with over 20% of their reserves in Gold: Netherlands (?) Portugal (?!) Venezuela (.) Austria (?) Belgium (?!) Kazakhstan (?!) Greece (!!) Slovakia (!) Nepal (!) Cyprus (!!) Tajikstan (!)
One country that I'm surprised doesn't own more gold is Qatar. 12.4 tonnes ~ $500m USD. Their sovereign wealth fund is ~$170B and 10th largest in world (well according to Wikipedia). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_wealth_fund#Largest_sovereign_wealth_funds
yeh some numbers don't make sense to me there, I would say that some countrys are being less than honest about there holdings and China would be the 1st I would look at also does it count the known in ground resources?
The big question is why the IMF is third biggest holder of a barbarous relic that has no relevance to modern banking.
Now that is an interesting observation. Why would they need it? Maybe they demand down payment or repayment in gold when impoverished countries have trouble meeting their fiat loan obligations.
It was a genuine question, I don't know if they count them as holdings. technically all in ground resources are owned by the state and people pay for the right to mine and sell them in the form of royalties so I thought they could be counted as gold holdings
I don't believe that for a moment. If the US has so much gold why are they unable to pay Germany back? And China is buying enough gold to sink a battle ship! lol. I would say that document is a work of fiction. Who wants us to believe that, and why?
This list is complete bullshit. The US can't give other countries their gold back.. Or even show them that any gold exists. A lot of talk about Fort Knox being completely empty. the people who control the money in the US say they dont understand gold's role at all, and it's worthless... I really think America has no gold, and this list was made to keep the US on top like always.
HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! OMG that made me laugh... Maybe they actually own Gringotts and Smigel is the Director, after all... The IMF offices must be full of the stuff - especially the doorhandles, toilet roll holders etc?!?
Not true. Here's a list from a Gov website of all the bars stored at Fort Knox. It's in PDF format and everyone knows you can't fake those. Last updated in 2010.
did you see the fineness on some of those bars? some are less than 9 ct!! or is that the tungsten core they are taking into account?
That was a joke right? Joking. LOL You trust the government to tell the truth? You can't fake a PDF? Funny man! lol
