Over the last few months most smackdowns have only lasted a couple of days. If this latest was a manipulated paper drop as I believe it was, with the resultant buying frenzy, I reckon the market will close this Saturday morning back at $21.

    You guys are old :p

World Wrestling Federation. But it was renamed WWE about a decade ago after World Wildlife Fund won a court case against them for the use of the acronym. Useless Trivia of the day :)

I may be old, but I'm not illiterate; WWF are initials not an acronym. It is not pronounced as a word.

Acronym- a set of initials representing a name, organization, or the like, with each letter pronounced separately; an initialism. Rolling those eyes right back at you ;)

Longer ones are referred to as ETLA's. (Extended Three Letter Acronyms) I was doing a DBA and this was the usual vernacular of the class.

TLAs like DBA would be a three letter abbreviation (TLA) rather than a three letter acronym (TLA).

And anyway, the first time you use a TLA you should be spelling it out in full.

E.g. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) lasts more than this weekend! Otherwise the meaning could be ambiguous!

How did I just go from wondering about price movements to being more concerned that the WWF is now the WWE and I hadn't known this for the last 10 years?

    I need more chocolate ...
