Why do we value gold?

    Interesting article. No Mike Maloney but it gets down to the chemical basics.

    Why do we value gold?

    Why of all the chemical elements did gold - an almost completely inert metal with limited industrial uses - come to be valued so highly?

    "Gold is unbelievably beautiful."

    Almost every civilised society in earth's history have valued gold above just about anything else. I believe this is the reason.
