To clarify. What 10 oz silver coin can I purchase as close to spot as possible that will also appreciate the fastest/most as an investment. After doing research the winner I found is the Australian Kookaburra. Please share your experiences and opinions. I'm chomping at the bit to buy my first 10 oz coin and I want a good investment.
I go along with the Lunars as well or....... My selections are from 2011...The 10oz Rabbit and 10oz Koala. The suspension of these coins affected mintage figures...for example, the 2011 10oz Rabbit has a lower mintage than the previous and very popular 2010 Tiger. See official mintage figures for lunars here: http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...nar_Silver_Bullion_Series_Two_2008_-_2013.pdf As for the 10oz 2011 Koala...the same rule applies. The 10oz mintage was decimated by what was Perth's best selling design to date; Perth sold 910,480 1oz 2011 Koala's so...folk liked the design. Mintage figures here: http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...la_Silver_Bullion_Coin_Series_2007_-_2013.pdf The reason I pick these two ten ounce coins is because they are still affordable and have room for capital-gain. I own both so DYODD. H
Can I assume that opinions are the same regarding 1 kilo coins? I have a couple of kilo kooks but it seems like the next kilo should be lunar!
Think Kooks might be better buy for now as the S2 kilo lunars can be reminted at any time upto 2019. In saying that, I'll still be buying the lunars as I've found there has been more of a demand for them and bigger profits have been made from selling previous years whereas Kooks (aside from '08 and '09) don't seem to achieve that. And +1 for 10oz Lunars too
10 oz American Eagles are nice. Okay, well, I think they would be nice if they existed. But seriously, you might consider 2 5 oz ATB bullion coins. They have had relatively low mintage for most of the issues, they are inexpensive in the US, and they will appreciate at least as well as Lunars I think over time.
