    Hello everyone,
I should get my first silver bar in the mail tomorrow (Wall Street Mint World Trade Center) it has the New York skyline on it.
In the photos it looks like it has a far bit of tarnish on it and I wanted to know if cleaning it would reduce it value?
I tested cleaning a 1966 50c and a silver chain with the hot water, bi carb soda, salt and aliminium foil, they came up good.

Mate I owned a number of those.

I put one through the mill in my experimental days.

I'll give you the drop now ... DON'T TOUCH IT!

Thankyou, if I do clean it I would be carefull rubbing it with the bi carb soda though as I think it would have to scratch it a little, the way I cleaned the 50c was to put a bowl of hot water with alliminium foil in it then add a tea spoon of salt and a tea spoon of bi carb then just dropped the coin into the bowl, the tarnish came off quickly, the chain
Had to be rubbed with bi carb becuse it had rust stains on it but scrarches would not stand out on that.

You could try Notarn-X which you can buy at Bunnings - it's really great!

Aside from it irritating your mucosal linings, causing temporary blindness, being 'reasonably' suspected to be carcinogenic (MSDS data - their words not mine) particularly as far as liver, kidneys, brain & lungs are concerned you can wow all your friends by cleaning your silver in it then letting the residue drain down your kitchen sink - and bingo - ten minutes later all the fish in your local river rise magically to the surface, taking away the need to go to Woolies for dinner!

    YUM!

But it DOES get your silver really really clean...

No, no, no - you've got it wrong - he isn't Polish - he's Ukrainian.

In Ukraine they drive cars into eachother to get them clean.

Hey JS try typing the post out in word or some similar application which should give you wonderful "Americanized" spelling. Then copy and paste.
