You don't have to understand why in order to make a profit on them! Back when silver was $15 an ounce an UNC 50 cent was selling for around $12 on eBay. More if it was the double bar variety (and they are all double bar depending on how good the sellers eyes are). However there are fewer people who collect rolls and most of the people who buy the 50 cents like them because they are shiney, and you can't get the same pleasure out of a roll of cardboard.
Thanks .... i already knew that I cant get a grip on old coins in general ..... Like i mentioned in my earlier posts if its not .999 im not interested Different strokes for different folks
I think the 66 50's go against the trend with rolls. They do really attract a premium in roll form. 2005 $1 UNC sell on eBay for up to $10-12 each but a roll goes for between $45ish to $70ish. Even in McD's a roll generally does not reflect the individual prices a single coin will achieve! There is sumptink very special about 66 50 cent rolls. FIIK what it is!
You forgot to yell"BUMPSKIES". Probably either google, or ebay. If neither show results they probably don't exist anywhere on earth.
Bump!!!! PCGS MS66 - Highest grading of any round 50 by PCGS and has a population of 7 This guy is asking $1000 o.n.o on ebay, is he dreaming or is there potential for GEM graded 50's to reach these prices? By the photo's the coin doesn't look that spectacular :| http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1966-Aus...15?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item418ce450f7
