I just saw a FS thread for a 1982 $200 gold coin, and I did some googleing. Gold in 1982 was about $400 USD average The AUD to USD went between 1.13 and 0.94c Meaning that the $200 face value coin had approx $111 worth oh gold in it when it was made. Is this correct as it is not the norm today ( the face value is much less than the metal content )
It makes sense. Those fiat for metal swap coins occur all the time still now. Think the $10 silver coins with 10 grams of silver or so.
^^^^^$10 coins with 10 grams of silver. Make that 20 grams. ASW Just under .6oz. IMO one of the best buys around Disclaimer. I own quite a few./ Regards Errol 43
