American Billion/trillion or English Billion/trillion? http://www.numberphile.com/videos/billion.html A useless fact knowing the difference unless you are buying a billion of something from the states. 1 one 10 ten 100 one hundred 1000 one thousand 10 000 ten thousand 100 000 one hundred thousand 1 000 000 one million (one thousand thousand) 10 000 000 ten million 100 000 000 one hundred million 1000 000 000 one thousand million 10 000 000 000 ten thousand million 100 000 000 000 one hundred thousand million 1 000 000 000 000 one billion Or at least, that is how I learned it, but apparently the rest of the world now outnumbers me so I have to use the rather odd numbering system, still, it will make it easier for me to become a billionaire.
if you get a single piece of paper and fold it in half it would double its original thickness. if you fold it in half again its 4x the original thickness. in theory, if your "COULD" keep folding a single piece of paper indefinitely doubling its thickness with every fold, it would only take u 20 folds of a single piece of paper for it to be taller than Mt Everest. 42 folds of the piece of paper to reach past the moon and around 90 folds to reach out further than then we have ever seen with a telescope, the size of the visible universe.
For real? I guess it depends on how thick your paper is to begin with... 80 GSM Copy paper is only 100 microns thick (according to Google). Doubling that thickness 20 times will give you an impressive 0.05 kilometers (1/20km) high. But you would only need to fold it over another 7 times to get just under Mt Everest and 8 times to get nearly double the height of Everest. It is 43 folds to get it well past the moon though. Must be home time now...

Came across this when looking up Jerry Seinfeld's net worth ($800m). Julia Louis-Dreyfus, best known for playing Elaine Benes on Seinfeld (earning $600k per episode) but what many people don't know is that her father is a multi-billionaire named Grard Louis-Dreyfus. In 1851, a man named Leopold Louis-Dreyfus founded the Louis Dreyfus Group, which is one of the world's largest commodities trading and merchandising firms. The company was managed by Julia's father Grard until 2006 when he retired. Julia Louis-Dreyfus has two half-sisters, Emma and Phoebe. The girls stand to inherit a large portion of the family fortune. Also, Robert Louis-Dreyfus one of her cousins, was former CEO of Adidas and owner of the Olympique de Marseille football club.
