A Client of ours just underwent his first Audit for smsf, spastic retarded auditor said ' never heard of bullion in smsf before ' thats the sort of crap you have to deal with living in the country! Then he didnt like it being stored at Guardian?! But nor should you store it at home!!!! Bullion is not supposed to be in an smsf account. I advised my client to go and see a real auditor, and explain to his current ones how they need to educate themselves. Stupid uneducated country bumpkins, and they run an accounting practice! What a pack of fools. Is there a list somewhere of auditors in Melbourne - it seems we have to get out of the country to find a brain.
Remind him of his role as an auditor. He's not there to pass his own personal investment advice, or to act as trustee.
I would suggest you get your client to make a formal complaint to ASIC... here ; http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/ASIC.NSF/byHeadline/Complaining about companies or people and while he/she is at it send them a copy and a link to; http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/ASIC.NSF/byHeadline/For auditors Kind Regards non recourse
Thanks non recourse, I was actually going to buzz you about it. Our client was absolutely sh#$$ing himself after being to see this auditor, all his paperwork is compliant, there was no reason he should have felt this way after speaking to an uninformed moron. I shall pass that info on to him. Thank you.
I can tell you more than a few urban advisers would have a similarly misinformed reaction. So the cause is not likely to be regional living. If he/she has never heard of something before, he/she shouldn't conclude it doesn't exist.
My auditor is at Allawah (hurstville) NSW and they are great.... they specialise in SMSF and I set it up with their initial help. I have no commission for this BTW... they are great... send your stuff to them and they send it back all ticked. Easy. If you want them, you can pm me. I think it costs $400 ish.... I know no more than $450. Shiny.
