Tigers sure did well, whereas the snakes bombed. I'm assuming the horses will be on par with the tigers over time? I won't be buying, cash poor right now. :)

Yeah had a look on ebay and doesn't really seem worth it if you take postage and all that into account. The ones on ebay are asking a bit, however they don't seem to be moving. Ebay is deceptive like that, it seems the ones up for auction are the real indication of what the market is thinking. Plus there seems to be a general consensus on here that the Lunar series is loosing popularity.
Think I'll give it a miss as well...

I wouldn't bother... I'm quite sure you'd see sellers in the buy/sell forum selling it a issue price or even below issue price.

Been selling a Dragon typeset for $360 on the forum and for $400 on the bay for ages and it still didn't sell, considering the dragon is one of the best years in the series, it's very telling

this can be due to the varieties available, that chock the collectors.

not sure which are the top set to be collecting anyway.

with basic bullion, can not get it wrong, just for bullion.

those limited < 5k sets are more likely to do better in the future.

What we are seeing is the bottom of the market. When bullion prices move up so will interest in the proofs.
The previous philosophy of buying proofs to flip within days does not work at the market bottom.
If you buy and have the ability to sit on it for a few years you will do well.
Just my take at this time.

I think many people lost interest when the Perth Mint kept pumping out all those Dragon coins. Also the Perth Mint release so many coins that people can't keep up so people have just given up on their products entirely. Saw a 5 oz Proof Dragon go for $250 on ebay a few days ago. I think issue price was close to $500. The Series 1 Lunars are still doing well though.

You may be right dragafem. Clearly numbers of proof coins in S2 have increased and this impacts price. I think that the price of bullion has an significant influence on numbers of people collecting coins. If we doubled or tripled the numbers of coin collectors then the demand for these proofs will go up. We will soon see - an optimist haha

Yeah, look at this set. After fees and shipping, I have to think they are taking a loss? Whereas I couldn't find anything for tigers. Lots and lots for dragons. Look at what talisman has each set priced at. Not saying this is the price that would fetched, but it does offer insight. I think a hundred or two off the price is about right? I think they went into overkill with all the different tigers! No wonder their lunar is only fetching 40.00 right now. Hope they don't kill the horse in this way. Phewie.
