Hi, I'm pretty new to all this, but want in. :) I have a couple of kilos (maybe 3) of Australian pre-decimal and silver 50c. I want to sell/swap these for some silver rounds and bars.
Does anyone have any suggestions, otherwise I was just going to go to G B Australia at Broadbeach and swap with them. The coins are all circulated.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. _Brisbane Gold Coast Area.

Put up a "swap" thread on the forums.

DON'T go to GBA!!! They're mass market scrap buyers - not in the same league as bullion dealers.

Your best bang for buck is a trade through here - or sell on here and buy bars back through here.

Ainslie pay extraordinarily well on 1966s only, if you have enough of them it's worth going in and trading em off for a bar, no cash exchanging hands. They pay a pretty crappy spread on everything else though.

Before doing anything you should really check to see if you have any key dates or high grade items which could be very valuable. I suggest you rethink selling/trading these at all to be honest. Holding fractional sterling silver that is easily recognisable is a great way our to own silver... fractional silver is very hard to get so having a little in your silver stack is to be recommended.

Id say if you can just hold that silver and ALSO get your bars and 999 bullion if thats feasible for your situation , sterling pre decimal aussie numismatics are very popular and in the future you may come to appreciate them like so many coin collectors do - they are also a silver hedge as they will also have a floor value as numismatics.

Whoo! What a weekend ;) Great swap meet on Saturday, was nice to meet you guys.. All 66s-gone.. Only have a few threepence and sixpence left, and now a very good coin dealer is hooking me up nicely for 98 kookaburras for the rest... So who wants to break up 10oz bars into kooks? ;)

_I know I know, I'll put in the right forum section when the time comes ;)

Thanks to everyone who responded and traded :)
