GP, What do you think about having subforums in trading forums? Everything works the same and all posts still show up in the parent forum, but people who choose so can post in, say, Melbourne subforum to indicate potential F2F trades there. That makes it easy for people like me who are not hanging around every day and interested mainly in trades with the locals to filter the posts they are interested in quickly. http://fluxbb.org/resources/mods/sub-forum/ The initial subforums list can be a list of metro areas and refined as we go.
Won't be done in FluxBB - but I'm hoping to migrate the forum to a new software platform in the coming months that allows subforums, it is being considered. cheers
I don't support it because I personally feel that there are far to many sub-forums as it is. I actually just use the "new posts" function but I'd like to be able to opt out of seeing threads from sub-forums I'm not interested in (soz Panda Fans) but it's all cool (there you go Panda Fans) Might I suggest that sales posts have a location in the title? WTS - 1996 1oz Gold kangaroo $600 BNE = Want to sell a 1996 one ounce gold Kangaroo for $600 Buzz on that one although being fair I'd PM myself and say "Oi sell for spot at the very least you dumbarse"
I know auspost is crap but I still buy from all over the place - being regional I don't really have a choice. A sub forum would be a pain for me. Just one more thing to sort through. malachii
There are no subforums as such now, they are all proper forums categorised. Having subforums actually shrinks what you see as an initial list. Visit Whirlpool to see what I mean. You still see all the posts in parent forum and if you don't care about subforums, it's pretty much business as usual for you. BTW, I did not envisage many subforums. It's pretty much BNE/MEL/SYD/PTH from what I can see currently. I actually suggested this first, search this forum for it. It did not generate much enthusiasm. Having subforums is less work for admin anyway and less potential for user errors.
