HI all This is my first post here so go easy on me I'm starting to get a bit fed up with the spreads and price over spot at my bullion supplier. Am on the hunt for a decent, reputable Australian dealer with a long track record. Have done a bit of googling this morning and have encountered a few cowboy types. Well at least ones that look that way. They might not be - it might just be my overactive imagination and curiosity in dealers being happy to supply you product when they don't seem to require any security checks. Would appreciate your advice and experiences with your bullion supplier. Thanking in advance sprite
Don't like the dealers prices hey How about you open your own shop & pay rent , than see how you go Have you checked out the site sponsors yet Oooh & welcome
"Security checks"? Why should a dealer perform a security check? AUSTRAC have clear regulations on know your customer obligations - if a consumer can make a purchase under $5000 without their privacy being unjustifiably invaded, then those businesses should be applauded.
Some of the site sponsors (and http://www.goldstackers.com.au/store being one of them) do have effectively live prices, while the market is open. There'll always be a spread, that's the nature of the game, it's a business after all.=, but if you stick to those dealers (especially those here) who follow spot price, you're very unlikely to get anything other than a fair and decent deal. (This has been my experience - in fact I've experienced people here going well beyond customer satisfaction). As usual, read a lot, watch the site sponsors for a while and you'll quickly pickup where there's a good deal along with good service! ... and welcome
We all need to make a living and who wants to sell at a lost, which does not cover the overhead cost that is required to run the business? As long as the price is not overly marked up. I think the forum dealers are pretty reasonable with their price.
@SM He's complaining about his usual supplier having high spreads not bullion dealers in general (and asking for alternatives). I recommend checking out the following: Bullionmoney Bullionbourse Goldstackers
Sprite - go to the Index page of this site, here: http://forums.silverstackers.com/index.php In the seventh field down find the heading: 'Site Sponsors' Under there you'll find about seven sellers who are still active. I've bought from all of them at some time and all ok, although there are delays I've experienced and lack of reply from bullion bourse. I've bought just as much probably from ordinary members here. All gone fine. You'll find them on the sub forum: 'Buy, Sell & Swap', sixth field down on the Index page
I'm sure there would be a land bases bullion dealer near you, if you have issues with buying online then why not establish a relationship with your local bullion dealer? if your going to hang around and become a regular, then your important to bullion dealers, regular cash flow. so in time you will become more and more valuable to them as a customer and a bit of a friend. so then you will be looked after, you'll get the little bonus, he might toss you an old 1966 round after you spend $1k tell you about what's coming in and if you like he'll put a few aside for you at the cheap rate, maybe you can buy single 1oz coins for the same price of buying in 20's all that sort of stuff that you will never get online.
Oooooh what are you saying ,that I should read the post properly before firing off He was a bit vague
Welcome you have taken the first step into the best Bullion Dealing venue, Take the time to look around and you will find what you are looking for and more. plus there is many reputable people to do business with. There is a wealth of information and many friendships to be formed. Regards Maggie
Hi and welcome, if its not too impolite where abouts are you based because I know some of us are from places where bullion suppliers are thin on the ground and it can take a while to track down trustworthy suppliers that aren't painfully over spot, so a vauge location might help us to point out some new potential suppliers.
Welcome to the party - Word of mouth tends to find the best prices. (Not to be confused with those who have the BIGGEST mouths here). Also some dealers have different angles - Not everyone has the same stock items If you just want the cheapest bullion in Oz hit me up & I'll tell you. If you are after more esoteric stuff, ltd mintages, bars, coins & proofs that are harder to get there are dealers here (including people like Maggie & us) who fill that niche... x
