Alrighty then....time to do a quick look around the country.
The first person to identify all states in the following pics will be the first person here apart from me to do so congratulations in advance.
You forgot NZ.
I should have said State or Territory for answers too. My bad.
Is Pic 4 Parkes, NSW?
I thought Adelaide for pic 2.
Everyone thin & well dressed.
Not like the clownshow on our streets these days
Its between you and me for the last two.
Enter person wearing Clown outfit.
A great film that celebrates a now dead culture and almost dead language:
Pic 3 a coal mine?
Lead or copper.
Don't know the mothers side, fathers was Miner/milkman (even had a minor fall in a shaft, could be where I inherited a fear of heights ).
Some part of Bendigo even has a small street that has the family name on it
My claim to fame is that the man that bought my surname to OZ in the 1850s, was actually IN Ballarat at the time of the Eureka Stockade. No idea if he was involved.
Another found an 80oz nugget in Bendigo near White Hills. I wonder what it was worth back then.
Looks like our great grand dads could've known each other OC.!!
Similar stories but no 80 ouncer. Mine landed a gold mine though. Sold it out and lost most of the fortune in the 1890's depression. Moral of the story being 'hold the gold'. LOL
That same GGfather that came to Ballarat returned to England, married, and came back a second time.
He lost his job in Melbourne in 1893, and threw himself in the Yarra in Feb 1894. The Coroner said, "Found Drowned".
Where OC's GGfather was "Found drowned". (no offense intended)
Mt Isa QLD
