Yes, it is rudderless and that scares a lot of people. They want to think someone is in charge, because if there isn't, how do you stop people from doing bad things. But the reality is, that when you want someone in charge and abrogate responsibility to them, you open yourself up to being abused by them. Which is exactly what is happening today. Because no one person or group has the capability of controlling things and making everyone happy. What people truly find frightening is the thought that they have to be responsible for their own lives. Which is why they are constantly looking for some protector they'll never find. "If we can only get rid of those lizard people controlling our govt everything will be fine...."
