I havent been collecting this series but I could not help myself with this particular one... Definitely one for my collection. Looks great! Source: Perth Mint
In years to come that name might be banned in the UK the same way we banned a kid's soft toy called a "Golliwog". The association to racism was too much and now with gay marriage etc how long before Jolly and Roger come into the political debate ?
This is what my parent always said when I ask for unnecessary things when I was young...tomorrow. Teach me so much about your need and want in life. :/
yes still available at the perth mint http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...e-jolly-roger-2014-1oz-silver-proof-coin.aspx
My coin arrived today. Very annoying when the coin is out of its capsule! Dont know if this through customs or what! Anyway, all is good, got it back in the capsule... Wonderful packaging from the perth mint. Comes in a wooden case resembling a book. I think they have been taking notes from the NZ Mint. Well done Perth Mint. Great coin.
Yes, happens all the time with this series. There should be some packing material placed inside the box to stop this happening. The first 2 issued coins of this series arrived with me and both times the capsules came apart during shipping. Luckily no marks on the coins, just some scratching to the capsules. For the last issue - Demeter - i asked the dealer to pack the inside of the box so the capsule can't come loose. A couple layers of bubblewrap works fine. I'll be asking the same when i order the Jolly Roger
Probably the only one who would admit to it on a public forum monitored by the ATO and other government agencies
They can't ban a name I don't see the connection between Jolly Roger and gay marriage though. I'd always thought it was a slang term for a penis
