The Fiji Taku replacement is here. It's the Niue Hawksbill.

Does this mean that my 2011 5 oz Fiji taku will be a collectible? :)

Good question. The APMEX rendering has changed.

In addition, the obverse image still appears to be wrong, showing a $10 denomination when it states a much more likely $2 elsewhere.

Have you seen the latest rendering? Significantly improved. Pretty sure they'll put 'Hawksbill Turtle' on it or something as just having 'Turtle' on it is slightly ridiculous.

Can someone explain to me why they have gotten rid of the Taku and replaced it with Turtle? Were they concerned that people might not be able to make the connection between the old picture and the word?
    BTW Turtle sounds Fucked!

I think that's the actual reverse side image now and the Turtle inscription is here to say. The obverse is now screwed up though, as it says $10 when it should be $2. I did a new post (http://agaunews.com/?p=12625) but my patience with the whole fiasco has been sorely stretched.

This Apmex image is just a photoshoped Taku.

The obverse is probably just a stock image they had laying around from another coin with the Queen/2014/Niue on it.

Right guys, it's taken some investigating, but we knew the second lot of APMEX images for this coin were no more accurate than the first ($10 obverse, proof reverse etc) and we hate being inaccurate in our reporting, so we've done some digging and spoken to the right people at the mint to get this cleared up for you all. We have a new post up which should answer your questions and show you exactly what you'll get. http://agaunews.com/?p=12773

The TURTLE font looks much improved in these images and we have pictures of the 1/2oz and 5oz as well. Confirmation of gold also. Hope this helps.

Anyone knows the mintage on the last years for the Fiji Takus? Especially interrested in the 0,5 ouncers.
Can there still be minted additional pre-2014 Fiji Taku coins?

Haha thats great, I just thought Turtle was an Autralian slang word

Anyways I think its ok, not a fan of the big TURTLE on there. I have one Fiji Taku and its as nice as any other coin.

I really like the 5oz 2012. Lovely coin, good obverse of the queen. 2013 the obverse was a bit rubbish. Now they've got the queen back but the coin has "turtle" written on it as if it was designed for short bus kids who don't know what the mysterious creature on the coin actually is. I'll buy one but that's it.
