Having done a search on threads here, I can't seem to find a way to prevent the site e-mailing me when replies are made to a thread I'm subscribed to.

It's no huge bother, but I use subscriptions to "flag" threads I watch regularly, or may want to refer back to in the future - hence, I'm not really keen on being e-mailed each time a reply is made to one of these threads.

Does anyone know where the magic "on/off" switch is for that please?

Profile-Privacy and deselect the 'automatically subscribe' option. Easy :)

Go to the thread in question, scroll to the very bottom, there will be an "Unsubscribe" link.

Not really sure that either of the above is the solution sought .... I thought he wanted to remain subscribed to a thread BUT not to receive an email every time that subscribed thread was updated (not just how to unsubscribe nor how to not automatically be subscribed to a thread)

Fwiw I do the same thing so I am also interested in a solution :)

Yes - that (above) is what I was after, sorry if I explained that poorly to begin with!

Who am I to say about SS threads & following them!

    I just hit new posts.

    Anything else is archival history.

Sometimes will do. Keyword or author search...I do work in in a Library & know how to work the wheat from the chaff.

Did some family research and found the 1st weather map published in an Australian newspaper.

May throw this out as an SS Challenge?

Ah seems my edited post didn't load. Once you're subscribed you receive an email and that's that, can't subscribe and not receive an email. Easiest way would be c&p the link of whatever thread you want onto a Word document so you can look it up later. Did that at the start but found the search function or simply bookmarking the thread in Firefox was easier.
