I have been following a recent kickstarter; https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/zombicide-black-plague/description They are making a boardgame, it has little plastic men as counters, this is the fourth of fifth one they have made in the series. They wanted to get $125,000 in funds so they could put it into production. It is now past the halfway mark and with 11 days left to go it is currently at just over $2.2 million. If you got in early, the first 900 got a $10 discount, they all went in the first five minutes and crashed the servers. As an incentive to fund the boardgame (rather than just buy it in the shops after it gets funded) they offer extra little men that you can't get anywhere else. To keep things fresh, they add new things everytime they reach a certain amount of money. Currently there are about 20 items that you will not be able to get hold of once the funding period is over. And about 50 items for free that will be available at retail later. The original game was a hit and sells on ebay with all the free extras for around twice what it cost, around $300, though others have been priced way higher than that. Some of the free plastic figures are on sale for $30 - $40 each. There is a lot of interest in this one (you don't need the others to play this one so if you missed out before you can jump in at ground level with this) and over 13,000 people have pre-ordered for the game which won't be delivered until Christmas if it runs to time. However the real interest seems to be in a brand new game they are talking about at the moment which is due to release soon. Kickstarter won't let the company run two at the same time so people are expecting to hear about it in a couple of weeks. If it gets the same reception as this game, and they offer the same sort of reward system as this one then there is a good chance that you could buy extra copies and flip them on eBay for a profit. I just bought the original game (funded in 2012) from an Australian company as a present and it cost me AU$120 without any of the free stuff. Shipping will be extra for the new game and it is in US$ but for all the free add-ons it might well pay for itself once I dump the left-overs onto eBay. Amazing what people will get excited over...
The detail is pretty good, these are no ordinary plastic figures! If you could make them in silver it would be even better though!
Well, the project just closed, made over 4 million pre-selling little plastic dolls to 21,000 backers worldwide. It is currently the top grossing boardgame on Kickstarter. You can see how it went (and any other kickstarter) on Kicktraq https://www.kicktraq.com/projects/coolminiornot/zombicide-black-plague/#chart-daily
Well they are selling on ebay from US$300 to US$800 with the most recent sales being for around the mid range https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...mplete=1&_nkw=zombicide+knight+pledge&_sop=13 Not bad but you had the money tied up for a whole year, still, that sort of return isn't anything to be sniffed at. Some of the smaller exclusive items did pretty well, cost price of $18, selling on eBay from $47 to $89 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/zombicide-black-plague/posts/1284812 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=thalia+and+grom&_sop=13 They are doing it again https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/zombicide-green-horde?ref=user_menu not so many people backing it this time and not so many exclusives to flog on eBay. I expect quite a few of the smaller exclusive items will also be ending up on eBay.
