So I'm gonna call out a few people here who I think have some superior knowledge on Crypto's and ask them for their opinions on what they think will happen with Crypto's and also what they think might be a good buy going into 2018 for SS Crypto interested members.

Not a totally inclusive list, but also not an investment list for people either, just a voluntary mention of their opinions if they wish to say so and get involved, I think it is high time the we all get together here and form a group that openly discusses what might and might not work with crypto in the near future.

In no particular order other than what it occurs in according to my mind.

Bugged, Leo, BB, Stioc, Ozcopper, Phiber, Paranoid, GP, SDJ, dozer, Altima, Brendio, jerry, systematic, alor, shinney, Saprano, willrocks, serial, etc etc plus others.

Your opinions on what might be a go in 2018 and on over the next couple of years, and also what might not be a go'er as well ?

This is not an invite for an argument, GP has plenty of room for that elsewhere, so go open another thread.

I am hoping for a thread where we might discuss potential winners in the Crypto space and their merits rather than pump and dump type Cryptos, IE ones that have real world usage and applications going forward and Crypto's that have solid foundations and teams behind them.

A big ask I know, but I have faith in you guy's not letting things devolve into dick or pussy size arguments, let's see if we can pick some winners in 2018 instead huh ?

I said my piece and it is coming to fruition as I called it.

    you said about me "
you are ignorant, uneducated and a Fool because you are trying to educate people about something you obviously know absolutely fucking nothing about. That is why you should Fucken Zip It. You wouldn't know a blockchain from your own Back passage.

    "
i may not know all the details of bit coin but i know enough about it and the market to see the problems and how unsustainable the market is in its current form. So instead of being an ignorant uneducated blowhard maybe in future you should listen to al points of view and not get so blinded by greed when making investment decisions
or you can just go down and put all your money on a 100-1 dishlicker,
Bitcoin - a great idea in theory but currently an investment bubble that will burst big time

Coming to fruition? I doubt it very much.

I stand by all I said about you, Still do but I included you in any case in the above as all views are welcome.
    I also said:
Listen Snowflake, go crawl away and lick your wounds and take it all as a learning lesson.
I know you feel down right now, and your cheeky little cheeks are stinging from your prediction of when the bubble will burst backfire, and the resultant tripe that
you followed up with. But hey Life is all about learning right ?

Any time you want to get aboard the Crypto Train, or Boat, feel free to PM me. Life is too short for Grudges and Bill's and I'm always happy to help a newbie get started.

You might find my approach offensive and ungentle, but the thing is that I couldn't give two sweet fuck's about your feelings as they don't really matter.

My point is thing is that I want all point's of view included, think I would of included you if I didn't ?

I still stand by what I've been saying for a while. Cryptos got WAY over heated and now in a correction stage. I'm still looking for Bitcoin to get to the $7000 USD level (crypto marketcap about 200B) I want it to get back to where i feel the real market priced cryptos. If that does happen it might over shoot lower.

I would like to note, i have an amazing track record of being wrong with crypto prices

I saw the massive run up after about $7000 as a negative for cryptos, as it got too much unwanted attention and made people view it only as a casino. I think cryptos would have been in a better light if that massive pump never happened. But i guess cryptos is a small market so it was always going to happen.

Anywho i like or have a small amount of BHC, VTC, OMG, PIVX, WTC, NAV & AEON.

Be good to hear from Bugged, it's been a while since I've heard from him. Miss his input.

My favourite for this year - NVST (at time of writing USD$2.87 each) live pricing @ https://xchain.io/asset/NVST

NVST has released their own wallet (still in beta phase with an update happening in a few weeks) and their DECENTRALISED Exchange due to launch around end of Q1 2018.

What is NVST? Holders of NVST tokens own the rights to future distributions of fees from the NVO exchange, similar to a stock dividend. Per the NVO white paper, 50% of all fees associated with the exchange will be distributed to NVST holders weekly. The fees are tentatively set to start at 0.2% of all transactions that take place on the NVO distributed exchange. NVST has 15 million tokens.

How are dividends paid? When the NVO distributed exchange is fully operational, NVST token holders will be paid their portion of the exchange fees in NVSX tokens, which may be redeemed for Bitcoin at a pegged rate of $0.99 USD per NVSX. This process is planned to be automated through the NVO exchange and wallet in the future, where it will be possible to automatically convert NVSX into Bitcoin.

Eg - If exchange was doing $100mill per day 1 NVST will return the equivalent of USD $4.87 per annum as a dividend. (top 28 exchanges are doing more than this at time of writing)

further information and beta wallet can be found @ https://nvo.io/
    with updates @ https://www.reddit.com/r/NVO/comments/7qhc13/nvo_updates_and_exchange_listing_news/

    As always DYOR.

I like Power Ledger even though I don't currently hold. I also think Ethereum will be top of the pops this time next year.

I think 2018 is going to be bumpy. This latest correction, even though neeeded, seems to have been more the result of a perfect storm of FUD. It would appear some heavily invested South Korean officials knew about the announcement and dumped their holdings prior to this. You then had many newcomers freak out and go into panic sell mode and, on top of this the BCC debacle which has probably left many poor retirees without any money.

Where does this lead? I think it's going to provide the perfect excuse for government intervention and regulations. As a result there will be more interest in DEX projects and privacy currencies. Unfortunately I still dont see any DEX projects that have worked out to operate as efficiently as a centralised exchange. I think POS is going to become the new standard. I don't know if this is the bottom or we still have further to fall, but I do think the space still has a long way to grow in terms of Market Cap.

I think this time next year Ethereum will be #1. Bitcoin isn't going anywhere and will continue to grow. I wish this ICO mania would stop as there are already so many obvious shitcoins clogging up the space with more coming it just makes trying to follow the space tiresome.

If I was to offer any advice based on my experience thus far, it would be to get some skin in the game and leave it there.

Lastly, I made some really bad trades last year that cost me a lot of money so I'd take anything said above as food for thought to mull over rather than any kind of advice.

Well i have decided that Bitcoin the father of all this is a dead duck and very little of what it was meant to do is playing out in real life so will never hold except for when it is required short term to purchase other coins
Money makers this year will be Netko (NETKO) and Augur (REP).
Of course bitcoin will increase in value again before its eventual demise ,but lets face it it is slow ,bulky and expensive for day to day operations.
Only time can prove me right on that though so please do not bother to try and sway me otherwise because it will just become a circular argument..

I really don't know enough about Crypto's. Personally, I feel it's not much difference than the Dotcom Bubble, the 2008 GFC Derivative Bubble and now the Crypto Bubble. All 3 bubbles seem to revolve around a decade or slightly more cycle. So what's the next bubble that can be invented after Cypto's?

Hey dickhead, I never asked you to "give two sweet fuck's about your feelings as" but if you want to come across as a stupid yokel you have achieved that goal
you act gruff and offensive to hide your stupidity and lack of understanding
you actively berate the government and the "illuminati" and then draw a disability pension and pay no tax (hypocrite much?)
then instead of responding civilly to people pointing out the deficiencies in your crypto position to take on the lefty approach of berating them and belittling them to protect your precious feeling about your crypto.
you then start a thread asking people to comment on cryptos specifically inviting me and thee 1st thing you do is personally attack me with name calling like the fuckwit you are, despite stating
" have faith in you guy's not letting things devolve into dick or pussy size arguments," and "This is not an invite for an argument,"'
I bet the only snowflake here is the one who cant support himself, is a leach on society and expects everyone to pay for him to live whilst taking abuse from that person. who, when he does start to make some money, dosnt belive in paying taxes despite the fact he has benefited from the for years. the same person who cult like fetish for something wont allow him to see the wood for the trees and gets triggered when someone questions his cult.

as for not being right, your just in denial still

Read the OP and thought, what a great idea, finally we can create a positive and supportive thread to help each other out

5 minutes later after I had read all comments I remembered that something like that would be impossible on this forum

It's a real shame, because there are several people here that I really enjoy listening to and discussing this with, but I just cbf with the mass divide anymore so I'll just probably lurk more in this subforum moving forward

    BITCOIN ? *

A lot of monkeys lived near a village.

One day a merchant came to the village to buy these monkeys!

He announced that he will buy the monkeys @ $100 each.

The villagers thought that this man is mad.

They thought how can somebody buy stray monkeys at $100 each?

Still, some people caught some monkeys and gave it to this merchant and he gave $100 for each monkey.

This news spread like wildfire and people caught monkeys and sold it to the merchant.

After a few days, the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys @ 200 each.

The lazy villagers also ran around to catch the remaining monkeys!

They sold the remaining monkeys @ 200 each.

Then the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys @ 500 each!

The villagers start to lose sleep! ... They caught six or seven monkeys, which was all that was left and got 500 each.

The villagers were waiting anxiously for the next announcement.

Then the merchant announced that he is going home for a week. And when he returns, he will buy monkeys @ 1000 each!

He asked his employee to take care of the monkeys he bought. He was alone taking care of all the monkeys in a cage.

    The merchant went home.

The villagers were very sad as there were no more monkeys left for them to sell it at $1000 each.

Then the employee told them that he will sell some monkeys @ 700 each secretly.

This news spread like fire. Since the merchant buys monkey @ 1000 each, there is a 300 profit for each monkey.

The next day, villagers made a queue near the monkey cage.

The employee sold all the monkeys at 700 each. The rich bought monkeys in big lots. The poor borrowed money from money lenders and also bought monkeys!

The villagers took care of their monkeys & waited for the merchant to return.

But nobody came! ... Then they ran to the employee...

But he has already left too !

The villagers then realised that they have bought the useless stray monkeys @ 700 each and unable to sell them!

Some of you would know I'm definitely a skeptic of everything that's going on in the crypto space at the moment, so I'd ask: rather than simply picking winners, what criteria are you guys using to judge whether a particular coin or token might be successful?

And what's the definition of "success", for that matter? Is it simply "makes me money"? Income or capital gain? Develops a sustainable business over the long term?

I wish I could contribute something of value in the stock selection department, but alas, I don’t know enough. Not really qualified enough to be a member of the Cryptos Brain Trust.

My only bit of advice that others may see of value would be to analyse your goals and diversify.

For me, I’ve allocated my holdings into 2 camps. The longer term ones and the trading ones. Within both of those 2 camps I’ve tried to buy cryptos that have different purposes/methods ie PoW and PoS, those that are intended to be used as digital currency say DGC or XRB v “platform” cryptos like Ether or DRGN v those that have a specific problem that the devs are seeking to solve like HST, XRP or IOTA. These are just examples, I don’t hold all of them and I do hold others I’ve not mentioned.

This mightn’t be the best way technically to explain it, but it makes sense to me. Mightn’t be of much value to anyone else though. :D

    ^Great questions Big Ad
I have mentioned my thoughts on this before in another thread back in Sept.
I would be interested in others take on your questions too

    "I look for platform plays.
Both Ethereum and Microsoft are known as “platform plays.”
That means they provide a platform for other people to work on.
Over the last 30 years, the stocks that created the biggest wealth for shareholders have been platform companies.
The top five U.S. companies by market capitalization are all platform companies: Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Amazon."
    https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?threads/current-holds.85237/page-2#post-1025907

As for your success question I think thats different for everyone.
Me Im looking at "dividend" providing tokens that preferably are also platforms "eg - NEO, NVST, VEN, OMG, KCS so as to eventually (hopefully) provide a regular income. For this to happen they have to develop a sustainable business.

@stoic, would you agree that the ‘platform” based cryptos have the greatest chance for longevity, and therefore capital growth, as long as they don’t become obsolete?

I see the digital currency coins as being the most prone to the vagaries and fickleness of subjective market players.

^Im looking forward to input to questions like this from more experience members like bugged out, dozer, leo, southern cross et al.

For my thinking they need to produce a quality product with a good user interface.
With such a large marketplace I would say its impossible for one person to know about every single coin.
Limiting myself to A- Platforms and B - dividend providing tokens is my way to cut through what I consider chaff for my purposes of investing in this space.
NB - Thats not to say EVERY other coin that doesnt meet my criteria is no good, its just those two things are my criteria.
Nor does it mean every single platform token will be a winner. It still needs a required/functional application.
One can only know so much in a space that has 1400+ different choices.

PS - I also own some speculatives in this space that dont meet the above criteria, in so saying they are small $ amounts and definitely gamble coins
