$400-500 depending if you get the right 2 people bidding on it then it might go higher
are you 100% its a split? do you want to upload some pics and what does it weight?

Definitely a split - about half normal thickness, there is a faint "ghost" of QEII's portrait from metal flow during the mint process.

At the office so no pics right now, but it's almost identical in every respect to the example in the link. I only have the platypus half.

sounds like a pre-stamp split, they are actually rarer than splits after minting. might get you a grand in the right hands. I would love to see it!! pics are a must when you can get your hands on it :)

    If it's half a split 20c I'd value it at $200. If it's struck on a split planchet $500+.

I would say it split after minting, there is no clear die impression on the split surface, just a faint outline of what looks like the portrait, which is the same as the one in the link, which you kind of have to use your imagination to see. When I saw the one in the link I could have sworn it was the identical item.

Just looked on eBay, there are two for sale that include both halves for $450 and $525, so $200 for half sounds about right. Picked it up in Berlin from a dealer's box of random Australian coins, along with a couple of aUNC 1966 20c pieces that deserved repatriation. Will put it up for sale next week.

Was going to ask if it was the same year as in the linm (1976) but I remembered you only have the monotremic portion.

I sell them for around $200, if you had both obverse and reverse then it would have been between $400 - $500. I bought a 5c, 10c and 20c from Downies a little while back for $175.00..
