I started wondering about bad coin designs after perusing the new Perth Mint releases. So, what are the worst you've seen? Here's the one from the Perth Mint that got me started. It looks like the character has a hardon tucked into his belt.

You missed the worst of the lot... the wrestling one But if we count medallions then I'm sure the pool of horrible designs jumps considerably. Producing a good coin design that translates well into a physical product seems to be quite a difficult process.
That is a joke right government/tax office doing something for its citizens (other than robbing them blind) give me a break FFS
FFS is right. Its the only coin that makes me curse every time I see it. Surely every time someone gets one of those the anger level in Australia increases by a notch.
some of us have this issue, its all a laugh and a giggle when your 15, but as a primary school teacher i have to have my tailor cut every damn pair of trousers i have to hide it, and i spend a crap load on underwear. Leave him alone, its a lovely coin! LOOOL

That one made me laugh, with all the superman and spiderman licences knocking about recently it is nice to see the Perth Mint going with the 'generic' superhero, no need to pay for a licence for a known character, she'll be right.
Yeah its not as if Perth Mint makes much money out of coins :lol: I'll ask my 10 year old son what he thinks of Perth Mints super hero I think I can guess the answer.It will begin with s and end with t,and yes I will tell him off for using bad language.
I got one of them in my change last week. Pointed it out to my wife, she said something like "Pff what were they thinking." Not good quality but I've saved it for S&Gs.
There is already enough stuff being desensitised on the Internet, if someone produces some crappy design or posts a stupid comment or makes a dumb statement then it's everyone's god given right to pass judgement. Hey my statement right now will ring bells with some and offend others but if you call me an idiot for writing it I would not get offended. If you want to live in a desensitised world with your head in the sand then simply don't read other peoples comments, it takes more effort to read them than to ignore them. People were paid a lot of money to design these coins so if they look like sh!t and people make a comment to the contrary then the designer/artist should be mature enough to have already accepted the fact that not 100% of people will like their design, if not then they need to look for a new career. Quite honestly there are a lot of ugly coins out there and what defines them as being so ugly is the comparison to the brilliant designs that others have done, all judged by peer judgment.
